Hank, a while ago I obtained a copy of “New Age Bible Versions”. This anti-modern translation book erroneously depicts that ALL translations, except the authorized King James Version, ARE satanic. It even has a hideous picture of a winged dragon on its cover. One doesn’t have to read far to discover how off the wall G.A. Riplinger is in her faulty assessment. She quickly paints a fake picture that the NASV and the NIV are the result of a conspiracy of the New Agers, preparing “Christians” to fall for the schemes of the antichrist. With misquotes and taking other authors out of context, she weaves a path that is actually destructive to the purposes of God. Then, apparently in the hopes that no one really knows what the KJV really says, she quotes verses from various new translations as her evidence. (Huh?) :) On page 17, she lists a few examples where the KJV reads Jesus and the NIV “translated” the name to “he”. What she fails to reveal is the real truth about the matter. The KJV uses the name “Jesus” 983 times. The NIV uses it 1,275 times. About halfway through the book she tries to convince her readers “We should be particularly wary when someone refers to Jesus Christ as “the Christ”. This obviously contrived attempt to “prove” they are removing the name of Jesus to make way for the antichrist flopped dead in the water - considering she failed to take into logical consideration concerning the 19 times that the KJV uses “the Christ”. I use the KJV for all my memorization work. I use the KJV for all my “word study definition work”. I use the KJV whenever I want to read Scripture out loud. But, I know that, contrary to what some bumper stickers claim, “We use the Bible that GOD uses-Authorized King James Version 1611,” God’s word is NOT KJV. Blessings, Taleb |

Good evening, Taleb. I'm familiar enough with Riplinger's half-baked ideas to recognize that she fails miserably to make a solid case for her cock-eyed claims against the modern versions. The assertions that she and others of her stripe make in regard to the "New Age conspiracy" being waged by modern biblical translators is unvarnished hog wash and it is nothing short of amazing how writers of this brand of sophistry can find publishers for their trumpery. The King James Onlyists are an odd bunch and they have founded what is essentially a cult which, like all cults, SEEMS to follow flawless reasoning that leads to a perfectly logical conclusion, but its premise is wrong. Sadly, the uninitiated continue in wholesale fashion to be caught in the web of the false teachers. The only antidote I know of is the Berean principle -- to search the Scriptures daily. In the context of translations, search and compare all the available translations. And I'm prepared to go on record as saying that among all the leading translations of the Bible into English (the obviously cultic farces excepted), there exist no really crucial or substantive differences of meaning and not the slightest evidence in any of them of any sinister conspiratorial motives whatever. One would hope that Riplinger finds better ways to use her time and talents, such as they are, in the future. --Hank | ||||||

What surprises me is the time several of you have spent debating the various translations and criticising those who have the good sense to use the King James Bible to read, study and memorise God's Holy Word. If you look back in history, you will come to appreciate that many of God's Saints have used the King James Bible in missionary and saving souls. Maybe if you spent more time reading God's Word instead of finding fault with it, you will come to realise, as did George Muller,Spurgeon,George Whitefield and many other God Fearing men that our Holy God does not LIE (Titus 1:2). I take very strong exception to the statement... "The King James Onlyists are an ODD BUNCH and they have founded what is essentially a cult which, like all cults, SEEMS to follow flawless reasoning that leads to a perfectly logical conclusion, but its premise is wrong." I have read several translations, particularly when I was still a babe in Christ, but in my opinion the KJV is for the mature in Christ. When I first came to use this Forum I believed it was a good opportunity for getting to know other believers. Now I have changed my mind and will spend my time usefully in the study of God's Word. May God Guide you in His Truth, Ken John. |

In a discussion, it is useful if you respond to the points that the other side makes. What surprises me is that you have not directly responded to the points made by those who replied to you. Instead you keep repeating your creed, which is, "The King James Version is the Word of God. The Word of God is the King James Version." |
