Hi Jackson, Welcome to this study. Personally I would not purchase the New International Version (NIV) bible. As a new believer I used the NIV because it was easy to read compared to the King James Authorised Version. The reason I give is because of the errors that have been reported by many so called experts. To give you a full back ground you will need to look at a few of the websites covering the different versions. I don't have them handy but will look up something for you and come back. In the meantime, I am sure others on this study will have some input for you. In Christ, Ken John. |

Hi Jackson, It is pleasing to note the good responses you have had about the NIV and other bibles. If you are a new Christian you will enjoy the NIV as I did for many years. Later you can switch to the KJV although I note some find the NASB a good one. I say as long as your heart is right in that you are walking with Jesus you will be blessed by God's Word whatever the version. If you pray for guidance, as I did, God's Holy Spirit will guide you and teach you to be in God's Will. IF you are interested to learn more about bible versions, I find the website www.whitestone.info/bibleresearch very informative. There are others but I will not burdon you with too many of these now. Blessings brother, KJ |

Greetings Ken John! First of all, welcome to the forum! Secondly, allow me to state that I have no problem with anyone choosing to use the KJV. It is a fine translation. However, I did want to alert you to some very serious problems with the web site that you recommended. First of all, they are into the so called Bible Codes and numerics. Both of these are very serious frauds which should be avoided. Secondly, the site teaches that the KJV is the preserved Word of God and all other translations are corruptions. However, the KJV was put together in exactly the same manner that the newer translations are put together, with only one major difference. The KJV only had a handful of manuscripts upon which to base it's textual decisions. Whereas modern translation have literally thousands of manuscripts upon which to base their text. I would definitely recommend that you avoid this website my friend! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Greetings Tim, Thanks for your kindness in giving me guidance regarding this website. However,I have read and learnt some interesting facts from it. So far the facts stated by them have proven accurate so until proven otherwise I cannot discredit them. I appreciate your warning about bible codes and numerics but I am not concerned with that aspect. ONLY the study of the Word of God. I have every confidence that the King James Authorised Version is more accurate than any other version. My only regret is that more churches(including my own) don't use it to teach the Gospels but then they have to cater to the majority today. In Christ, Ken John. |

Greetings Ken John! Okay! Let's look at the process of how the text of the KJV and other modern translations was actually determined. Can you tell me exactly what was different in the case of the KJV? In other words, why is it more accurate? p.s. - I'm glad you are not into the codes and numerics! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
