Subject: What does "perish" mean? |
Bible Note: Harold Brown: "The Bible clearly states that saved people can fall away." You say this without any reference at all to WHERE the Bible clearly states this, and without defining what the term "falling away" really means, and you make no comment whatever on my exegesis of Hebrews 10:26 or to the great number of scriptural references that I submitted that refutes your argument. So, friend, if you are firmly convinced that the Bible clearly states that saved people can fall away, and if by falling away you attach the meaning of to lose their salvation, and you wish to make assertions, such as the one that heads this post, without authentication by Scripture, and are not open to a considered discourse about what Scripture does clearly state, I see no cause to continue with this thread and, with no ill will toward you, beg to bow out. If, as you say, living a decent life before God makes us eternally secure, then it must be true that in our good works, not the redemptive work of Christ, lies our hope for salvation. This is an argument to which I'm not by any means a subscriber. And, by the way, Revelation 21:8 is not speaking of God's elect. --Hank |
