Bible Note: Harold Brown: Am I to infer from your words that salvation is a sort of loan from God, not really a gift of eternal life, and that this loan can be recalled if man doesn't make regular payments on this loan in the form of good works? Or, if works have anything to do with it, and if man can lose his salvation by bad works, why can't he then save himself and keep himself saved by good works? How, in fact, does Christ's substitutionary death on the cross fit into this works and losing-one's-salvation scheme? --Hank |
