Subject: Teacher, when were the 11 rebaptized? |
Bible Note: Greetings Teacher! Faith, or believing is not something we do. It is a response to what Christ has done. Faith is not an action or a deed, it is an attitude. Can you do belief? Concerning baptism, again no one disputes that we are commanded to be baptized. The question is do we get baptized because we are saved, or to get saved? If the later, than it is work's rigtheousness, not grace. By the way, you are relying on men's interpretation - your own! :-) For instance, what does Mark 16:16 mean? Was it even in the original text? How do you answer these questions? You, a man, have to decide based upon the evidence. Does that mean that you are simply following the traditions of men? ;) The facts are my friend, there is only one verse you can point to which SEEMS to say that we are saved by baptism. However, that verse was not in many of the original manuscripts, and your interpretation of it suffers from a logical flaw. However, there are many Scriptures which stress that we are not saved by anything we DO. So, which should I believe? God's clear statements in His word that we are saved by faith in the atoning work of Christ on the cross, or your interpretation that we must also DO things in order to be saved? As Paul made clear in Rom. 4, if we have to DO something to be saved, than it is no longer by grace that we are saved. We are owed a wage. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
