Bible Question: Wouldn't God's action of "keep(ing) them from falling away" go against His giving man a free will to choose? |
Bible Answer: Teacher I do believe we make choices after receiving the gift of salvation. I see our salvation and the keeping of it as a co-operative joint effort in which both God and man play a part. For instance, In the following two verses we see we are to; "Keep yourselves in the love of God" thats mans responsibility and secondly the next verse says we are; "kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation" thats God's part. It says we are kept by the power of God through faith. When I think about faith, I see faith as an active verb, we are to exercise our faith daily. Faith is not something thats passive. Those who believe in passive faith, use quotes such as "let go and let God" which I don't believe is totally accurate Bibically. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude 1:21 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Pet. 1:5 So my answer to your question is yes. We have the responsibility to "abide (remain) in Christ" (see John 15:6) |
