Bible Note: Hi Hank. Your commment, "The kinds of questions that can always be depended upon to attract attention but to solve little are debates about election and free will, including the whole panorama of divergent views among Calvinists and Arminians; the role of baptism in the salvation experience; the issue of salvation by faith alone or by faith plus works, etc." causes me to be a little cautious. In my experience, I have discussed these or similar topics to no avail because those with whom I have had discussions cannot see the truth from the lie. My goal is expressed in 1 Tim 2:1-4 "First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." My only guide to doctrine is the bible and feel that all answers to all spiritual questions, through proper and diligent study, can be found in it. What are your thoughts? |
