Bible Note: Teacher, I would advise a newcomer to the forum to make heavy use of the Search functions, both the 'yellow' and 'red' Search rectangles. I'm an old-timer to the forum, have a good working knowledge of what's been discussed, and am blessed with an excellent memory, so it is unnecessary for me to use Search but rarely. As you become more conversant with the forum, its archives and its current fare, you will gain a working knowledge of what's been discussed, of the kinds of issues that have been over wrought and those which tend to create more destructive debate and division than resolve biblical issues or to give definitive and useful answers to biblical questions. The kinds of questions that can always be depended upon to attract attention but to solve little are debates about election and free will, including the whole panorama of divergent views among Calvinists and Arminians; the role of baptism in the salvation experience; the issue of salvation by faith alone or by faith plus works, etc. These all of them are abundantly represented in the archives should you wish to venture back into the "catacombs"! And, finally, carefully study the guideliness for usage that have been set in place by our sponsors, the Lockman Foundation. These have been carefully thought out and are designed to promote peace and harmony among forum members and to help insure that the content of the forum stays on topic, viz., Bible questions with Bible answers. I sincerely hope my off-the-cuff remarks may be of some help, and further wish for you a happy and rewarding experience as a member of the forum. --Hank |
