Subject: What was Pilate's sin? Does it matter? |
Bible Note: No, if Pilate had freed Jesus the people would not have crucified him. Israel was under the rule and occupation of Rome by the massive force of Roman legions. Pilate could have stifled any riot, but he did not want to have to -- he'd rather crucify an innocent man. Of course Pilate had a choice, as do all men. And yes, it was certainly prohesied in the Old Testament that the Christ would be sacrificed. But, that doesn't mean that Pilate had no choice. It simply means that God knew what would be Pilate's choice before it occurred, as God knows all our hearts. There is no contradiction here, because with God there is no temporal issue. Henri |
