1 | Unforgivable sin | Romans | Teacher | 66196
Henri, thank you. You did answer half of my question which involves what blaspheming the Holy Spirit is. I agree that if someone rejects God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the word we have teaching us about all three, that there cannot be any forgiveness for such a person. The second half of my question is why is it an unforgivable sin? If I behave in such a way as the first part of this post and reject God and all He is about but then by some miracle I change, I repent, and obey the rest of God's will, can I not be forgiven for even this sin?

Henri, All we can go on in this matter is what the Bible has to say about it. For any sin to be forgiven us we have to have come, first, to Christ in faith. If we reject the Holy Spirit we have rejected Christ and by, our choice, we are damned. Speaking now, from my own understanding of the verses in Luke, it appears that blaspheming the Holy Spirit is eternally unpardonable. If there is an exception I haven't discovered it yet. I hope that someone who knows more than me is reading our 'posts' and can lend their understanding to this question. I wish I could say that it might be a forgivable sin however, the verses seem to be unequivocal in their language. in Christ, dennis |

Dennis, Again, FYI, this is Teacher's question, not mine. However, I appreciate your response, because I have similar questions to Teacher's. Thanks, Henri |
