1 | Are some sins greater than others? | Romans | Henri | 65852
Is all sin equal? Where in the Bible does it say that no sin is greater than another, and is this stated in the context of Jesus' willingness to forgive us our sins, or in the context of the gravity of particular sins? We know that some commandments are greater than others, so shouldn't the violation be similarly of greater import?
2 | Are some sins greater than others? | Romans | Lionstrong | 65902
Yes, Henri, in answer to your question, and Welcom to the Forum! There are numerous examples of some sins being greater than others, but I'll give just one. John 19:11 Jesus answered, "You would have no authority over Me, unless it had been given you from above; for this reason he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin." 4 | What was Pilate's sin? Does it matter? | Romans | Henri | 66872
Yes, Pilate definetly sinned in what he did. His sin was that, solely for the sake of political appeasement, he convicted a man who he certainly knew was not guilty. He tried to extricate Jesus through argument, but when unsuccessful he would not go ahead and free Jesus anyway, as was indeed within his power, because he did not want to sustain the political repercussions. Jesus was his scapegoat. Sadly, this still regularly happens today. |

6 | What was Pilate's sin? Does it matter? | Romans | Henri | 66878
No, if Pilate had freed Jesus the people would not have crucified him. Israel was under the rule and occupation of Rome by the massive force of Roman legions. Pilate could have stifled any riot, but he did not want to have to -- he'd rather crucify an innocent man. Of course Pilate had a choice, as do all men. And yes, it was certainly prohesied in the Old Testament that the Christ would be sacrificed. But, that doesn't mean that Pilate had no choice. It simply means that God knew what would be Pilate's choice before it occurred, as God knows all our hearts. There is no contradiction here, because with God there is no temporal issue. Henri |

You write "No, if Pilate had freed Jesus the people would not have crucified him. Israel was under the rule and occupation of Rome by the massive force of Roman legions. Pilate could have stifled any riot, but he did not want to have to -- he'd rather crucify an innocent man." If pilate freed Jesus, how they crusified Him? do you have other in mind how Jesus Christ sacrifice aside by being crusified. |
