NASB | Romans 1:21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 1:21 For even though they knew God [as the Creator], they did not honor Him as God or give thanks [for His wondrous creation]. On the contrary, they became worthless in their thinking [godless, with pointless reasonings, and silly speculations], and their foolish heart was darkened. |

Bible Note: Greetings JustReadMark! You make some excellent points about sin in general. The church has not always been as loving toward those who are living in sin as it should be. We need to reach out to those in sin. However, we must also be careful that 'reaching out' does not become a tacit approval of said sins. Charles Finney once preached a sermon entitled, 'How to preach without results'. In it, he said that one way was to preach about 'sin', but never name any particular sin. We must continue to articulate what we mean by the term 'sin'. We must continue to be specific. But, we must also continue to love those who are caught in sin. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
