AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 1:21 For even though they knew God [as the Creator], they did not honor Him as God or give thanks [for His wondrous creation]. On the contrary, they became worthless in their thinking [godless, with pointless reasonings, and silly speculations], and their foolish heart was darkened. |
Subject: Active Homosexuals: Truly Christian? |
Bible Note: Greetings Hank - thanks for presenting your stand. I suspect that perhaps you share my angst over the publicized reports of practicing homosexuals in ministry. Woe to you blind guides! I concur with much of your point of view yet am reminded of my own rebellion. I was saved as a little girl and rebelled as a teenager. I was under conviction and certainly experienced the guilt that accompanies sin, yet it was a time before I was willing to repent and turn back. The Lord was patient with me, He wooed me with a compassionate heart, not a condemning one. I suspect that my personal experience with the Lord prompts my understanding of the uniqueness of the sanctification process for each believer. I agree that if a sinner claims that they have no sin, they make God out to be a liar and the Truth is not in them. My life is certainly a testimony to that - for indeed I did recognize the sinfulness of my choices. And as God has "grown me up" I am becoming more cognizant of the subtle sinfulness that is "hidden" in my heart. I am cautious to judge - for the standard that I use will be meeted out to me! Yet, the one who knows what sin is and continues to practice it, in my mind, was either never a partaker of the Spirit of Christ or has not responded to the Truth. God will surely deal with us according to what we deserve! How I praise Him for bearing my punishment! As leaders, we have a serious charge. "but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea." Mt 18:6 I believe that those who are in a position of leadership and continue to CHOOSE to sin (practice homosexuality) will be held even more accountable before God for their choices!
