AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 1:21 For even though they knew God [as the Creator], they did not honor Him as God or give thanks [for His wondrous creation]. On the contrary, they became worthless in their thinking [godless, with pointless reasonings, and silly speculations], and their foolish heart was darkened. |

Bible Note: Mommapbs In reference to 1 Tim 3:5 this verse is another qualification not a continuation of the qualification of being a husband of one wife. The only thing we see is God saying the man must be above reproach and husband of one wife. To some this may suggest that having more than one wife opens the door for reproach. However it could be two qualifications 1. he should have a good reputation 2. The husband of one wife. We all know God thoughts on divorce. We also know all these jobs are to be filled by men called by God. The question is, is the man genuinely called of God or not. It isn't a matter of do we like him, view him as a second class citizen or even is he willing to serve. The important point is did God place this call upon the man. As for my church yes we honor these qualifications however the denomination itself as weakened. I don't think many denomination have withstood the pressure. It is too great and they fold like straw. In fact most have become very hypocritical. Allowing preachers caught in adultery or divorcing while serving in a pastorate to continue to hold credentials while not allowing other men that are divorced to obtain credentials. Both to my view are the breaking of the marriage vows. EdB |
