AMPLIFIED 2015 | Romans 1:21 For even though they knew God [as the Creator], they did not honor Him as God or give thanks [for His wondrous creation]. On the contrary, they became worthless in their thinking [godless, with pointless reasonings, and silly speculations], and their foolish heart was darkened. |
Bible Question: In light of what the Bible says about homosexuality, can a homosexual be a follower of Christ and continue to engage in homosexual acts? Please cite Scripture and give reasons for your answer. Thanks. --Hank |
Bible Answer: Greetings Hank: Do you ever commit sin? Have you ever had a temptation come upon you that you gave in to. Did you eventually have the victory over that particular temptation. Sometimes it takes some time before God has renewed our minds where we can stand on His word and have complete victory over a stronghold in our life. Until we realize who we are in Christ and have the experience of His power we waffle around sin. Did you instantly follow ALL of God's commandments and statutes when you asked Jesus into your heart. What makes us a follower of Christ. If we follow Him then we cannot willfully commit sin. That means intend, plan, commit on purpose a sin, not give in to temptation. It is through experience that we learn that what God has said He means. Faith in Him, trust in Him, we must exercise it to have the victory over our strongholds. The question appears to really be if I commit sin am I a follower of Christ. My answer is it is a matter of the heart. God knows my heart and He knows my intent. He forgives me when I miss the mark and He knows that I have repented never to miss the mark again. (Until I slip the next time) Romans 3:9 What then? are we better than they? . . . Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. [KJV] Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. [KJV] Romans 5:12-13 Romans 5:20-6:2 Romans 6:6-7 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. [7] For he that is dead is freed from sin. [KJV] Romans 6:10-18 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. [11] Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. [12] Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. [13] Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. [14] For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. [15] What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. [16] Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? [17] But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. [18] Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. [KJV] Romans 6:20 Romans 6:22-23 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. [23] For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. [KJV] Romans 7:7-9 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. [8] But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. [9] For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. [KJV] Romans 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. [KJV] Romans 7:13-14 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. [14] For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. [KJV] Romans 7:17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [KJV] Romans 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. [KJV] Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. [KJV] Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. [KJV] Romans 8:2-3 Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. [KJV] Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
