Subject: What is iniquity in Matthew 7:23? |
Bible Note: You are right, Greg, when you reinforced this truth. “THIS IS WHY YESHUA AND PAUL, PETER, ETC. CONSTANTLY MAKE REFERENCE TO THE OLD TESTAMENT SCRIPTURES!!!” Finally, His Word IS getting through to you. I’m excited that you must have discovered that truth of WHY they constantly made reference to what was written. It’s important to note what the Old says in order to understand exactly what the New says about it being so much BETTER THAN THE OLD, and HOW Jesus CHANGED the Old to the New. You ask, “WHICH OF SCRIPTURES PROPHESY YHWH CHANGING HIS MIND OR REPEALING HIS TORAH? NONE ---- Scripture reflects EXACTLY the opposite. God changed “His mind” often, every time He said He was going to do one thing and His people prayed, He wouldn’t do what He said He would. Abraham with Sodom Gen 18:, Moses with the Israelites (more than once), Joshua, Elijah, David, Hezekiah (2 Kings 20:1-7), etc. etc. etc. How many examples do you need? OK, one more out of many. Jonah 3:10 says, “And GOD SAW Nineveh’s works, that they turned from their wicked ways; and GOD relented of the calamity HE SAID HE WOULD SEND THEM, AND HE DID IT NOT.” His initial PLAN WAS JUDGMENT. But, THEY CHANGED GOD’S MIND. Now, that isn’t that hard to believe, is it? While God’s character and nature are changeless, HIS PLANS WERE, AND STILL ARE, CHANGEABLE. What transpired on the mountain with Jesus, Moses, Elijah, Peter, James and John gives evidence to all many others have shared with you. Jesus’ disciples witnessed the “law-maker” Moses, and the “prophet” Elijah talking to Jesus. In Mark 9:8-9, God the Father said, “THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, HEAR HIM. And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged the disciples that they should tell no man what things they had seen, TILL the Son of man was risen from the dead.” It’s easy to notice what God the Father DIDN”T SAY – This is My law-maker, Moses, My prophet, Elijah, and My Son, Jesus, listen to them. But it WAS ONLY, “Listen to My Son”. This is because AFTER Jesus’ death and resurrection, things changed. The law had been fulfilled. Jesus word’s on the cross, “IT IS FINISHED” meant IT was completely fulfilled. “To finish, bringing to an end, not MERELY to terminate a thing, but to carry out a thing to the full.” Or, as Adam Clarke wrote, it means: “As if Jesus had said: “I have executed the great designs of the Almighty—I have satisfied the demands of his justice—I have accomplished all that was written in the prophets, and suffered the utmost malice of my enemies; and now the way to the holy of holies is made manifest through my blood.” Before “It Was Finished”, only one priest could go in the Holy of Holies, and only once a year. A heavy curtain kept everyone else out. That curtain was torn from top to bottom (or heaven to earth) as soon as Jesus died. Mark 15:37-38 “And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed His last. And the VEIL OF THE TEMPLE WAS TORN IN TWO FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. GOD CHANGED THE MEANS OF EXCESSING HIM. Even before Jesus entered the grave, anybody could have entered into that place which before His death would instantly kill anyone except the High Priest, and sometimes even him. NOT ANYMORE. God changed that rule, law, command, forever. The New “Covenant” was NOW in force. The promise, that those listed in Hebrews 11 “Hall of Faith”, looked forward to, we look back upon. Heb 11:40 tells us “God having provided some “BETTER” thing for us, that they, (those before Christ’s victory during the final Passover) should not be made perfect, without us.” Interesting conclusion you wrote up dealing with dealing with pagans – “In other words, dictionary definitions, meanings, customs, phrases and whatever else man comes up with will change BUT HE DOES NOT. If He hated it 4,000 years ago He hates it now. Tell me, since words, definitions, and whatever else man comes up with change … If God hated it 4,000 years ago and He hates it now. ------ So, why do Christians allow weddings to be preformed by anyone EXCEPT GOD? – How pagan and unscriptural can we get? His word boldly declares that a man leaves his mother and cleaves to his wife. Even Isaac and Rebecca never held a ceremony. Off the camel and into the tent is God’s eternal intention, (Gen 2:24) so who are we to ever change such? Or, was it as Romans 13:1 says? (Here is another example of what GOD means about ‘NOT BEING CONFORMED TO PAGEN’S ways right?) “For there is NO AUTHORITY EXCEPT FROM GOD” (Here dealt with and referred to the Pagan Romans who were in authority over the entire world). The “Government” changed GOD”S marriage rules and GOD GOES ALONG WITH THEIRS. Interesting. In HIS grace, Taleb |
