Subject: What is iniquity in Matthew 7:23? |
Bible Note: Hey Tim, I listened to a speech by Monte Judah and then wrote it. Again in my view, the reason behind the writing of Galatians is to stop the false teaching that one had to be circumcized first to be accepted by YHWH. Part of the problem is that we have Hebrew concepts being explained to a Gentile audience that has been translated from Greek to English (and maybe from Hebrew to Greek to English). There is a lot going on with Galatians. Paul talks about "the law", "works of the law", "curse of the law", "under the law"---these are not all the same concepts. Another part of the problem is that a lot of people do not know that there is a difference between "justification" and "salvation". Justification: During the Exodus anyone who by FAITH put blood on the doorposts was accepted (Egyptians, Canaanites, etc). Just as anyone who has FAITH in the blood sacrifice of Yeshua is accepted. Salvation: The mixed multitude of nations that were now known as Israel are given a marriage contract, there is an engagement period in the wilderness to see if the bride will be faithful, then the bride can enter the promised land. Israel was tested for 40 years, Yeshua for 40 days, the "church" for 40 jubilees (40x50yrs is 2,000yrs) to see if they will keep the marriage contract(Torah). This is eternal life/ salvation. Rev 22:14 "Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." Think about it, if sin cannot abide in His presence and He defines sin as "transgression of the law/Torah"(1 John 3:4-6). How can we spend eternity in His presence if we do not keep the law/Torah? Jeremiah 16:19 "O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles (Nations/Ephraim?) shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have INHERITED LIES, VANITY, and things wherein there is no profit. If you are basing your eternal life on the writings of Galatians, I would call that "building your house upon the sand" (Matt 7:26). No one else in the Bible has another author warning us about MISINTERPRETING his letters and causing their own destruction (2 Peter 3:15-16). No one says be careful when you read Isaiah, Amos, Matthew, etc.---only Paul who, according to your take,is repealing the Torah as the standard to enter the promised land. 1 John2:4 "Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word (Torah) which ye have heard from the beginning." Isaiah 8:20 "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word (Torah), it is because there is no light in them." I believe Paul was an apostle of YHWH and Pharisee of Pharisees who would never speak "not according to this word". Tim, I am giving you some good stuff here. Greg Boone |
