1 | When will I speak/pray in tongues? | Acts 2:6 | ethan | 28087
it seems to me that you have complicated things to a degree of reason. 4 things destroy faith; Fear ,Doubt,Reason and Anxiety.God is simple. There is two types of tongues, Personal and ministerial.LOL i just made that one up. but it is the tongues that you stand up in church, just like prophesy and give out loud.that is the one you need an interpretor for. To edify the Body of Christ.the Personal one edifies you. You see, satan is after our authority and Jesus has Given it back through Himself. this comes by relationship and spending time in His presence.John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: that word power means authority. when the authority comes, you firstly gain the authority of your own soul then you gain it over your realm of influence as in what satan has stolen, then you gain it over others. like casting devils out etc.He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. the Key is to ask and go with what just comes, and believe. just like the disciples when Jesus said follow me and i will make you fishers of men. It is the still small (spontanious thought) voice.Oh i should ask have you accepted Jesus into your heart to be Lord? Bless you.. |

2 | When will I speak/pray in tongues? | Acts 2:6 | The Disciple | 28121
ethan, firstly, please explain what you mean by 4 things destroy faith: Fear, Doubt, Reason and Anxiety. You see I do believe 3 of those 4 are characterisitics that show a lack of faith. Reason isnt one of them. So, if you please. Explain how it does. 2ndly, If I may be so bold as to ask. Where did you reason your words about power, authority etc? I have to ask because it would seem you are using "dunamos" out of context with what you said about satan wanting our authority etc. But since you didnt give any scriptual reference I cant qualify a rebuttal of any consenquence. 3rdly, Do you understand the Corinthian letter from Paul was a total rebuke of what they were doing in the church there? Paul was letting them know that they were abusing the spiritual gifts given by the Holy Spirit for the "edification" of the church. Not to used for self edification. Several times Paul said let what ever they do be to edify the church. The times he said self was edified was in contrast to the church. In the context and tone of the letter he was letting them know that when they used the gifts for self they were out of order. With the tongues especially. We notice that, because he wrote about it and qualified its importance in 2 chapters. Namely 12 and 14, and in between he wanted us to know what was more important. Chapter 13 ... the LOVE chapter. You see, when it came to the church, JESUS was most adamant that we LOVE one another more than ourselves. That was HIS 2nd command. If we are using the gifts of the Spirit for our self acknowledgement or self gratification or as prooooof to ourselves and to others that we are OF HIM then we may be missing the whole point of the use of the gift. Namely, for the edification of the church. In cases like what Ashestobeauty wrote about how this gift has helped her life....PRAISE GOD ....you see she didnt use it covetously. Hence, the Holy Spirit gave her this gift for helps and mercy. Covetousness is the most lethal of all characteristics of PRIDE. WEll i think it is anyway. Desiring a gift like Paul says in this letter is different from coveting. Coveting is a form of self absorbtion. There is no ryhme or reason other than "me me me me" when it comes to coveting. Righeous Desire is given to someone by the Holy Spirit that helps to edify the church. Without the help of the Holy Spirit all we do is in our own authority. And right now backing what i just said Scriptually escapes me....forgive me. Let us not convolute HIS story..... *shalom* |

3 | When will I speak/pray in tongues? | Acts 2:6 | ethan | 28164
Bless your Heart. LOL. 1 reason destroys faith by saying if the Lord has told me to give my last 100.00 i will not be able to survive untill payday. do not mistake reason for analyzing the situation. to analyze it says, Okay i have 100. i feel that the Lord wants me to give it what are my options 1. disobey. 2, Give and be Blessed. 2a if i give what scipture can i stand upon to know that you are talking to me Lord? ask for a scripture.philipians 4:19 My God has promised to supply all my needs. etc. Q2 okay start at adam and eve what did they really give to satan? go to Math 4:8 satan showed Jesus all the Kingdoms. and Who owned them? the being that could give them away. so who gave satan these kingdoms? at first Adam did then satan has tricked each and every person to sin and once that sin is not dealt with. satan has a legal right of their authority. if you do a study being sent by God you will see that all authority is Given by God and men of great mercy and grace were sent by direct revelations from the Lord Himself or an angel by God. moses, abrahams promise, gideon, samuel, david, all of the prophets minor and major. John,Jesus,The disciples,Paul Peter to the Gentiles. Etc ect. Stephen was filled with the Spirit and Power. and Saw Jesus in the Heavens. power is authority. the Word says" seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness. Why do we have to do that. Go to Jerimiah 31:18,19. 4 steps to repentance. 1 make a discision to repent. 2 repent 3 after repentance comes we are instructed. 2 Tim 3:16 4 we are ashamed. You see once our eyes are opened we do become ashamed and Jesus comes in and takes away our shame and we realise that it is His mercy and Jesus Give us His righteousness. Note that the man with the Greatest Faith in all of israel was a Roman and He knew what authority was and did. #3 yes i do agree with you it was a rebuke. that is what normally happens when the Lord speaks. in habakkuk 2 it says; I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved. the Point is, when God Speaks turn it into a blessing and not a rebuke. that is why the Lord says whom the lord loves He chastises. the Gifts of God are given without His repentance . He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Ask the Lord to soften Your heart to His Will and Spirit. For Job realised that God can do everything. and that no one can stop His will being done. Do a study on Mercy you will find that all we do for God has been predestined for us by God. that is why our names were written in the Lambs book of life before the foundations of the world. Te Power of Death and Life are in the Tongue and thet that love the fruit of it shall also eat of it. you were Born to create, to be walking inthe image of God. The Love part when you are walking in the Power of love you shall walk as Jesus walked. A dream once told me that when Love comesthe Power Gifts will flow. i believe this because God is Love and when we walk in the Fulness of Christ He walks in our steps. being a Christian is to be Christ like. Bless you. |

ethan, I havent read all of what you posted yet. I have only seen what you said about REASON...and you havent explained what you mean to me. maybe im just really dense. Reason defined is like what the Lord said Isaiah 1:18. "Come let US reason together.." Whatever we hear, read, or see...we need to reason it with HIM. Thru HIS scripture, and only HIS scripture. We cannot deduce from our own worldly views, we need to consider seeing things thru HIS eyes as best we can. We can find HIS eyes in HIS words. Your defining of reason is a good example...but is it the same one HE would have used? I leave with that in mind as i peruse the rest of your post. *shalom* |
