Bible Question:
Anyone care to dialogue about known and unknown tongues? You see, I have a hard time receiving the "initail evidence" of being Baptised in the Spirit. I have prayed years for it. I have had many friends and family pray I get it. I've even had scores of children praying for me. I believe the Gifts of the Spirit are STILL in fine working order and Not a ONE has disappeard since the canon. I assume some of my frineds in here are going to address this quickly. I do hope to get some thought provoked in all of US....... ...Lord dont let me convolute the story... *SHALOM* |
Bible Answer: Great response, Retxar! Most people don't understand that we do play a part in speaking in tongues. Just like God gives a child the ability to speak but the child still has to open his mouth and make the sounds come out. When you feel in your heart the time is right thank God for the gift, open your mouth, and begin to make whatever sound comes out. Just like salvation "its almost too simple" to believe and receive. You have to have the faith of a child :o). Your heavenly language is just like any other. When you begin to speak in tongues it will sound "weird" just like when a toddler begins to speak. You may only say a few unfamiliar sounds over and over again at first. Don't stop, it develops over time. A baby does not come out speaking fluent English. As you speak in tongues you will develop and become fluent in it. So it may sound like you are stuttering at first and even sound "like baby talk" but as you keep praying and speaking in tongues you will progress and become more comfortable with it. :o) Just remember there is nothing to be afraid of.. its a gift from God. |
