Greg Now I see where we are heading. You aren’t just interested in calling the Law the Torah your building a case for Sabbath worship. Understand first the Sabbath rest was never meant to be a time of worship but going by the strictest letter of the word of God a day of “rest.” Know secondly that Jesus was a fulfillment of that rest, the Messiah is referenced as Shiloh (rest giver) in Genesis 49:10. Jesus Himself said He was Lord of the Sabbath. He also okayed His disciples from keeping the Sabbath allowing them to gather and eat on the day, also they traveled on the Sabbath which was virtually prohibited.. Sunday is a day Christian celebration to rejoice in the knowledge our Lord lives. What better day than the day He arose to celebrate His life ? We are not keeping the Sabbath but rather we are celebrating the resurrection of our Lord In the early church the Jews kept the Sabbath rest and Sunday celebration. The Gentiles kept only the Sunday celebration since they were never under the Law. Gradually as Jews understood Jesus as fulfillment of the Sabbath the Jews stop the Sabbath rest. You mentioned the Passover again Jesus is a fulfillment of the Passover. He was the perfect Lamb that saved us from death. Therefore just as in the Passover there are similar things we use in Communion to celebrate our salvation. Remember we are Gentiles not Jews Here in Florida we have 5 in trees. They take a Bitter lemon root stock and graft an orange, tangerine, lemon, lime and grapefruit on to the tree. The root stock gives them resistance to insects and rot and the branches supply the fruit. No one would look at the limb that produced an orange and attempt to call it a bitter lemon branch. It remains an orange branch grafted to a bitter lemon tree. Just as we are Gentiles grafted into the tree of Abraham, into the family of God, we are still not Children of Israel but adopted children of God. EdB |

Ed, There are a number of areas that need clarification. This is why Protestant America is walking in deception, they do not know the entire Bible. "Israel" is anyone who has joined himself to YHWH's set apart people. Within the group of "Israel" is a subset of people known as "Jews". Jews are primarily descendants of the tribe of Judah but also include Levi and Benjamin. Initially, they were all called Israel. The separation came about after the reign of Solomon as a punishment for spiritual adultery. The 10 tribes in the North were known as Ephraim/Israel and the 2 in the South as Judah/Jews. There is important info regarding who actually made up the original tribes. It is too much to explain here but this link is fairly straight forward. http://www.goodword.net/two_houses.htm Solomon said there is nothing new under the sun and that which has been is that which will be again. Isaiah 30:9 "...this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law (Torah) of the LORD:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. If you do not do your homework, you will never see the truth. Greg Boone |

Greetings, Greg; Welcome to the forum. Just as a kindness to us American Protestants who study the entire Bible, please try to refrain from such sweeping generalizations as "Protestant America is walking in deception" and "Protestant apologists try and distance the true Hebraic roots of the faith that Yeshua preached because they are the 'lawless' ones". It's good of you to explain things to us and exhort us to "do our homework" so we will be compelled to see things your way. But if you actually believe that there is a monolithic "Protestant America" that does anything at all in concert, I will have to assume you may be similarly deceived in other areas as well. Peace and grace, Steve aka Indiana Jones |

Thanks for the tip Steve, but I did use a couple of modifiers (representative, most) to soften the blow. One truth-seeker to another, Greg Boone |
