1 | What is iniquity in Matthew 7:23? | Matt 7:23 | gjboone | 74766
CDBJ, I realize we are not able to keep Torah perfectly. That is why there is 1 John 1:9. Think of it this way. You are raising a child to be a productive part of society. Your child has difficulty with math. You understand your child's problem and continue to work with him/her. Your child begins listening to other students who say "you will never understand math, you might as well give up, it's hopeless". Your child is aware of the goal that has been set by the state but is content to cease from striving because he/she thinks its hopeless. How sympathetic are you to a child who will not try? One who has given up ahead of time? Revelation 2:23"...I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works." Keeping Torah is a heart issue. If it is your true will to keep Torah/law, you will find mercy. Yeshua did not die in humiliation and anguish for us to disregard everything that the Father holds sacred. How can you spend eternity in His presence if sin cannot abide in His presence. Sin is breaking Torah/law (1John 3:4). Christians have a theology that has 'given up' and therefore condemns without even trying. Luke 13:24 "Strive to enter in at the strait GATE: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. " Revealtion 22:14 "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the GATES into the city." "Striving" is doing the commandments not just believing. Greg Boone |

2 | What is iniquity in Matthew 7:23? | Matt 7:23 | CDBJ | 74791
Friend, If you can’t see what I have expressed I am sorry because I don’t have the power to reveal it to you. You suggested, Luke 13:24 "Strive to enter in at the strait GATE: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. " I have already done this and now I have entered into God’s rest, my striving days are over but I wish you the best with your's. Hebrews 4:10 For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His. My gate was none other then Jesus Himself and he has already given me that rest, I can’t see as where you have anything else to offer. John 4:14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." Have a nice day, CDBJ |

CDBJ, I can sense some defensiveness in your response, that is what the truth does, it off-ends. Matthew 15:12 "Then came his disciples, and said unto him (Yeshua), Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?" Amazing, your striving days are over but Paul's were just beginning: Phillipians 3:11 "If by any means I might ATTAIN unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had ALREADY attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus." Phillipians 2:12 "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT your OWN SALVATION with FEAR AND TREMBLING." Maybe Paul should have read Hebrews 4:10 (out of context). Bearing in mind, Revelation is the last written instructions from Messiah. What is an "overcomer" in the setting of Revelation Chapters 2-3? It has to be more than someone that merely believes. In Revelation 18 there is an impassioned plea "come out of her, my people". Who or where are God's people right now? He is calling the "Bride" out of pagan-based, antinomian Babylon and back to the 1st century faith that Messiah walked in. 1 Corinthians 11:1 "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." For Messiah to be “sinless” He had to keep Torah perfectly. But because we are “believers” now that standard is obsolete??? We are now under the “Grace Welfare System” where we just “rest” in what Messiah has done for us and “pick and choose” which commandments we will keep??! Romans 3:31 “Do we then make void TORAH through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish TORAH.” Again I ask, “How can you spend eternity in His presence if sin cannot abide in His presence?” There were 613 commandments given in the OT. People talk about the bondage of the "law" and they do not realize that the "bondage" was the man-made rules that the Pharisees instituted not what YHWH initially stated. In fact the NT has over 1,100 commandments that are more difficult to keep but I guess those should be by-passed also. http://66.227.33.191/magazine/0205/page04.htm 1 John 2:6-7 “He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as HE WALKED. Brethren, I write NO NEW commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the TORAH which ye have heard from the BEGINNING.” 1 John 2:3 “And hereby we do know that we KNOW HIM, IF we KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS.4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, IS A LIAR, and the truth is not in him. Matthew 7:23 “And then will I profess unto them, I NEVER KNEW YOU (YOU DID NOT KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS): depart from me, ye that work iniquity (Without Torah). Paul foresaw this falling away from the Truth and warned the Gentile assembly with tears. Acts 20:26-31 “Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God (Torah). 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. 29 For I KNOW THIS, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking PERVERSE THINGS (Strongs 1294 to turn aside from the right path, to pervert, corrupt) , to draw away disciples after them. 31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.” It cannot get much clearer than that. Revelation 3:18 “… anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.” Greg Boone |

Well you have quite a bit there to answer in one post but then again you have been a week doing it. I have even forgotten the subject, but that’s what happens when one gets up in years. You quoted Matthew 15:12 and you used the name (Yeshua) which looks nice but why would they refer to him that way when the New Testament was written in Greek and not Hebrew? Did you mean to say Iesous, oh well? You then stated, “Amazing, your striving days are over but Paul's were just beginning:” It is even better then amazing, it’s fantastic and to think God would reveal this to me blows my mind! Next you site Phillipians 3:11 "If by any means I might ATTAIN unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had ALREADY attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus." Yes, I have a frame of reference for that OK because I am still in this old body and praising the Lord and still growing in grace; and I can hope with Paul that I will get done everything that God has for me to do even if it is spending time on this forum trying to help people see the truth that is in Christ Jesus with out works. Next you pointed out, Philippians 2:12 "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT your OWN SALVATION with FEAR AND TREMBLING." Yes, I can see where Paul didn’t just want just lip service, and the best examples would show up when he wasn’t right there watching them. He wants us to share with others what we have found to be true in Christ. And what we experienced through a total trust in Jesus with out our useless works of self-righteousness. Jesus said the same thing with reference to putting a light under a basket. But then again some haven’t experienced this yet because they are still trying to do something for their salvation. Surely you guest in this statement you made where I will conclude? “Maybe Paul should have read Hebrews 4:10 (out of context).” Paul was well ware of what Scripture was, he wrote it as Peter tells us. And some have problems with it because they twist it around. 2 Peter 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Have a nice day and the best to you, CDBJ |
