1 | What is iniquity in Matthew 7:23? | Matt 7:23 | gjboone | 75948
Taleb, Well thought out. The first thing that jumps up though is the assertion, "He...actually does CHANGE, as often as He purposes change." Deuteronomy 6:5 "And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Leviticus 19 :18"...thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. " Matthew 22:37 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang (SUM UP) all the law and the prophets. YHWH purpose is constant. Everything in both testaments is His accomplishing that end. If the objective of the war is to "take that hill", whether you use artillery or infantry or snipers does not change the initial objective. The 10 commandments, the 613 commandments, the sermon on the mount are all the same thing---Loving YHWH and your neighbor as yourself. Nothing has changed. You are familiar with the OT, why are these "burdens" resurfacing during the millennium? Zechariah 14:16 "And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the FEAST OF TABERNACLES." Ezekiel 45:17 "And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and drink offerings, in the FEASTS, and in the new moons, and in the SABBATHS, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the SIN OFFERING, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel." It sounds like Ecclesiastes to me , Ecclesiastes 1:9 "The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun." "Greg, do you understand WHO SPOKE this? What does the rest of Scripture say about this individual?" If YHWH can speak through a jack-ass (no jokes please) of what relevance is it who declares the truth? Before I continue I want to ask you a question. Is there a difference between justification and eternal life? Shalom, Greg Boone |

2 | What is iniquity in Matthew 7:23? | Matt 7:23 | Taleb | 76646
Greg, thank you for your patience in waiting for a reply. What was God’s eternal purpose for man from the garden? Was it not to send His Son as the ultimate sacrifice for the sin that Adam and Eve brought into this world? God’s eternal purpose WAS fulfilled the moment He put into effect Jesus’ sacrifice. God, in His mercy, also explained those truths throughout the Old Testament via prophecy of what Jesus finally did. God, in His mercy, also explained it over and over again throughout Jesus’ ministry about what would be accomplished via His death. God, in His mercy, also explained it throughout the New Testament, Matthew through Revelation, what He accomplished by placing the Old Mosaic law in effect UNTIL THE NEW TOOK EFFECT. Even the New Covenant, as we now know it, will change. Surely you don’t believe that throughout eternity there will be “laws, and Sabbaths, and feasts” that ALL must adhere to. Many make the mistake of believing what is translated ”for ever” always and only means without end. It doesn’t. Look under your Strongs’ number 5769. While you are there, check under “old” and locate all the 5769s listed there. And “ancient”, and “past” etc. etc. For a few examples, check out Joshua 24:2: “ And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old-H5769 time- H5769” Did you notice that BOTH “OLD” and “TIME” use the SAME HEBREW WORD AS in Exodus 27:21: “In the tabernacle of the congregation without the veil, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute forever-H5769 unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.” Ezekiel 36:2: “Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because the enemy hath said against you, Aha, even the ancient-H5769 high places are ours in possession. And one of many more examples – Amos 9:11 “In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old-H5769” But the closing part of this debate is settled, as it was in the New Testament. Acts 15. They held the same debate about the same topic with the same result many of us now employ, under the guidance of His Holy Spirit. “And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved. 2When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question. …” “And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith. 10Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they. ….” “For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; 29That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well. 30So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle: 31Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.” Did you notice WHAT WASN'T ON THE LIST? No Sabbaths, other laws, or commandments. So did I notice that glaring fact. So do others who "practice grace" Doesn't God ever "get" any "orginal" problems to deal with? I quess not. :) With respect, Taleb |
