Hi Emmaus, Do you notice how the PHD talks about what was going on in Ezekiel's mind and Ezekiel's interpretation: "I propose that v. 23 sums up Ezekiel's synthetic interpretation of this D-material; that is, the covenant curses in Deut 27-28 state that when Israel breaks the covenant, they will be scattered (28:64, scattered , hiphil of putz)." However, Ezekiel 20:2-3 states: "2 Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying, 3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, THUS SAITH THE LORD GOD;" Clearly there is no room for interpretation as a prophet speaks what he is told to speak. Sometimes I believe these PHDs are more like modern-day witch doctors throwing around fancy words to mystify an audience. They are "Ever learning but never coming to a knowledge of the truth." Please note there is also a consistency between Ezekiel 20:25 when compared with 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11, "...because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause GOD SHALL SEND them STRONG DELUSION (statues that were not good), that they should believe a lie: 12 That they ALL might BE DAMNED who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness (without Torah)." Greg, I take it then you did not find it interesting and that PhDs are not allowed to do exegesis. I note you did not address his reasoning from the scriptures. I quess no one else has anything to contribute to this disccusion. Must be a lecture class. Sorry to have wasted your time. Emmaus |

Emmaus, What is to interpret? YHWH said what He said and Ezekiel repeated it verbatim. Instead of PHDs trying to explain away scriptures that do not fit their theology, why not embrace the truth and act accordingly. What good does it do anyone to rationalize away the truth? He said what He said and did what He did to save as many as possible. He is all-knowing so surely He foreknew what would happen if He did not judge them. People seem to elevate PHDs because of the title. You cannot get a PHD without parroting most of what others have said before you. If the others were wrong in the first place there is nothing but error upon error. Greg Boone |

Greg, Did you actually read the whole article? I did not recommend it as an attack on you or your post, but you seem to be in such a defensive mode that you took it that way. Does God have something against all PhDs or is it just you? You can study the scripture and argue your position without prejudice, but they cannot? This particular man had a lot of good things to say before he ever had a PhD and he would have addressed your ideas much more fairly than you have addressed his. What would happen if you got a PhD? Would your mind turn to mush and all your opinions be atomatically invalidated? The thoughts presented can be judged on their own merits or lack thereof. But you have not chosen to do that. Instead you have chosen to denigrate the person because of a title (knowing nothing else about the man)rather than address his ideas and the reasoning behind them. Dehumanize the man ("Sometimes I believe these PHDs are more like modern-day witch doctors...") and you do not have to deal with what he has to say. Where have we seen that tactic and technique employed before? Emmaus |

Emmaus, You are right I did not read the whole article and I should not have categorized all PHDs with a broad brush. To be honest when I started reading it I knew it would be a struggle to finish. In my mind no matter how much I put forth in trying to follow his logic I'm thinking that anything this involved is a by-product of trying to manufacture the result that you want. I just could not motivate myself to finish. Partly because I was fasting, partly because I knew of too many scriptures the posit "the goodness and severity of God" (Romans 11:22). I apologize for commenting without reading the entire article. Shalom, Greg Boone |

Greg, May I suggest you will find the tape series on Romans 9-11, All Israel Wiill Be Saved, to which I also referred you of great interest. Trust me on this. You will be surprised by the content and the position presented even if not in full agreement on all points. Emmaus |

Emmaus, I also have a recommendation. I just recently discovered these lectures. Although I do not agree completely with everything he states, his background research provides a necessary light for trully understanding Paul's writings. http://www.christianpreaching.com/rondart/dartepistles.htm Shalom, Greg Boone |
