1 | Active Homosexuals: Truly Christian? | Rom 1:21 | prazn | 87231 | ||
No. I've never said, or knowingly implied, that any human can achieve sinless perfection, as Christ (the God-Man) did. I believe that a person can commit a sinful act, out of ignorance. For example, God says in Mal 3:8, "Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, 'How have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings." I know of many Christians who do not tithe. Not because they haven't read the scriptures which encourage us to tithe, but because the Spirit of the Living God has not yet dealt with them about that act of faith, for whatever reason. Tithes and offerings are necessary for the Kingdom of God to be advanced upon this earth. But, more importantly than that, tithing is a gesture of faith in our Lord, which will be rewarded with a demonstration of His power to "pour out...blessing[s] [that] we won't have room enough to receive". And, yes, I know that this is Old Testament, but our God doesn't change. Believers are not exempted from His laws and commandments, as stated in the Old Testament. Hope this answers your question. |

prazn: Thanks for your response. I can't find anywhere in the New Testament that a "tithe" is mentioned. However I do find sacrifical giving. I am not legalistic about only using a limited measure in which to give. The truth be known under OT law a person was required to give close to 28 percent far cry from a tithe. Thoughts? justme |

In Mark 12:42 our Lord observed a poor widow deposit two (2) copper coins into the treasury of the synagogue. Why was Jesus so concerned about the money that was deposited into the treasury of the synagogue? He certainly didn't take heed to the payment of government taxes (see Mark 12:17), except to tell us to pay them. Perhaps, a better example of a sinful action that is committed out of ignorance is gossip. Most Christians don't believe that they are behaving in a sinful manner when they gossip, however, our Lord tells us what things constitute "evil" (i.e., sinfulness), in Mark 7:20-22: Mark 7:20 And He was saying, "That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man. Mark 7:21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, Mark 7:22 deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. Mark 7:23 "All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man." My point is, "sin" is a heart-condition, NOT an action. Sinful actions results when we worship "self" more than we worship "God". Since I haven't met a perfect believer, yet, that leads me to conclude that there are a lot of folks out there who are either willfully disobedient or simply ignorant of what sin really is. Blessings! |

Read Just Mark: I confess I have found that I often do have that heart-condition. When I reolize it I do as 1 John 1:9 says. Verse 10 is why I can say I do have a hesrt-condition, and will until I an with the Lord. Thoughts? justme |
