Subject: Where does Jesus say He is God? |
Bible Note: Blessings to you, too, Markarios. I know you meant well, however, I do not believe that the bible is the word of god. After much reading and then sitting through a week of lectures by a highly respected translator of ancient texts (Bart Ehrman, Prof. at Chappel Hill), I am now convinced that SO MANY EXTRA things have been added or CHANGED over the centuries, that what we now call the "bible" was really authored by men who were trying to justify the execution of their leader, and keep a movement going. There are countless cases where wording has been changed, verses added, and original meanings lost because we live in a different time period. So I think all those things you quoted, may sound like direct answers to you, but I view them as open to interpretation. Jesus said many profound and wise things. People still find comfort in them. That is good. But so did Buddha and Mohammed. Christians do not believe THEY TOO were sons of God, and neither do I. Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed and many others over the ages were excellent and profound teachers, mentors, and philosophers. All could be called "prophets", I suppose. But God him/her/it-self? I don't think so. All depends on how you look at those verses....Nancy |
