Subject: Where does Jesus say He is God? |
Bible Note: Dear JME, These things you quote were written in a time when people truly believed that the entire world consisted of the lands surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. Since earthquakes were common and warring groups were a constant threat, NATUALLY they thought the "end was near." But don't we know better now? We KNOW why earthquakes happen. We KNOW that lunatics like Saddam H. are out there plotting destruction. GOD isn't doing these things any more than the "fire god of the mountain" demands virgin sacrifices to stop the lava flow. I am amazed at how Eastern religions lack this apocalyptic view. The Hindus I know are so at peace with themselves and others, as are Buddhists and Taoists. It is mainly Judeo-Christian dogma that makes people fear the future. Jesus said many wonderful, wise things, but I find many Christians taking them out of context and using them as scare tactics. Jesus used the word "love" repeatedly. NOW WHAT PAUL WAS RUNNING AROUND SAYING IS SOMETHING ELSE!!! But he he had a political agenda and a movement to promote! After all, what do you say to keep your interests going, when your leader has been executed by the ruling authority of the time, the Romans. |
