Subject: Where does Jesus say He is God? |
Bible Note: Nancy, we who profess to be Christian subscribe to the definition of truth that our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, the Son of God laid down in the book of John, chapter 14, verse 6: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." Nancy, I don't know your age -- perhaps you are a young woman seeking your niche in life. Be that as it may, I happen to be a man who is 67 years old and have been a Christian for 53 of those years. My mind is not closed to "other options" as you have called them, because there really are only two options: to believe in Christ or not to believe in Christ. To have life and joy through Him or to suffer the wages of sin without His redemption, and the wages of sin, the Bible tells us, is death. I would urge you to read the Bible for all that it is worth, beginning perhaps with John's Gospel. I have friends who once called themselves skeptics. A young man I know was once called the town's brightest atheist. He is now a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Read "Mere Christianity" by C.S.Lewis, a one-time atheist who became one of the most celebrated apologists of the faith in recent times. Nancy, I submit to you that there are no real skeptics, no genuine atheists, because even they believe in something. They may believe that God does not exist, but they can no more prove it than I can prove that He does, and they therefore have faith. It's simply a mis-directed faith!..... I mentioned before that I had been a Christian for 53 years. Am I sorrowful, do I feel cheated and deprived of life's richest offerings because my faith has made my life austere, miserable, and unfulfilled? Not for a second! Suppose I'm right to believe in God and you're wrong not to believe. Suppose there really is a heaven and a hell? Suppose Jesus Christ really is our only way to heaven and suppose rejecting Him really is the certain way to hell. At least please do think on these things. I suppose you will be going on your way and quitting the forum. It is my prayer that God will visit you somewhere, sometime, in some way, and will lead you to Himself. --Hank |
