Subject: Where does Jesus say He is God? |
Bible Note: Dear Nancy, It is painfully obvious from reading your comments that your original question was a ploy. Your reason for asking it was to gain an opportunity to denigrate and to undermine the faith of those who believe in the teachings of Scripture. Don't take my statement the wong way. I don't condemn you for it. Your desire may stem from an altuistic intent to open the eyes of people whom you view as deluded. Nevertheless you will be condemned by God for the sin of not believing in His only begotten Son. Your question has been more than adequately answered by those of us on the forum. But you demand it to be answered on your terms before you will accept it's viability. You disregard the fact that some of those who have replied have studied this book assiduously for many years. You on the other hand appear to have a passing familliarity with the text. Yet you presume to lord it over them with human reason. Nancy, you have a very high opinion of yourself and a low opinion of those who disagree. Where is your tolerance? You ranted against pushy christians who continually attempt to push literature in your face. Is this your attempt to get even. Where is your spirit of forgiveness? I make these points to show you how natural it is for us to sin. It's as natual as breathing. Even our good works are attended by pride and self-righteousness. This is true for christian and pagan alike. "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". Any christian that looks down his "spiritual nose" at a fellow christian or an unbeliever is being hypocritical. We sin when we claim for ourselves the smallest shred of righteousness. Our righteouness is filthy rags before a HOLY God! Instead we must praise Jesus, for by His sinless life, He has covered those who believe with His righteousness. People who consider themselves to be "good people" base their assesment on a comparrison to other people. But God's standard is perfection! Who can meet it? Not me. I may, humanly speaking, be better now then when I was a drugged out hippie and a drunk, but I still sin in thought , word and deed every day. No. My hope for perfection I have found in Christ. Rock of ages cleft for me Let me hide myself in thee Nothing in my hand I bring simply to thy cross I cling I hope you will take my poor words in the spirit of love and concern which is the way I feel toward you and all who have yet to come to the knowledge of Christ. May He bless you with that knowledge as He has blessed this unworthy sinner. I Remain Your Friend, John |
