Bible Note: Bub, would you explain for us simple folk who may have missed out on it, your reason for referring to Jesus as Y'shua. Why don't you use "Jesus," the commonly used name for our Lord in English Bibles? What possible theological or other merit or advantage has Y'shua over Jesus? At all events, Y'shua is not the Hebrew name for Jesus, but a transliteration of it. To reflect the exact Hebrew name, you would be required to use Hebrew characters from the Hebrew alphabet. To a Hebrew-speaking person who had no knowledge of our language and the characters of its alphabet, "Y'shua" would be meaningless, mere squiggles on a piece of paper. --Hank |
