Bible Note: Greetings Bub! I have been following as much of this thread as I can, but I may not have read everything posted on this subject. It seems to me that Paul did not speak negatively about the Law itself, but against the view that one could be justified by keeping the Law. The difference in these two views is one of purpose. One view says that we must be obedient to the Law of God in order to be saved, while the other says that we are able to obey the Law because we are saved. Gal. 3:15-23 is very clear that the purpose of the Law was to bring us to Christ. The Law has served that purpose and thus we are no longer under its supervision. It is also clear that Gal. 3 is refering to the Law of the Lord, since v. 17 refers to the Law being given 430 years after the covenant with Abraham. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
