Greetings Simchat! I understand the difficulties involved in translation. I had some Hebrew in college, but unforunately, I haven't kept up with it. However, I had kept up with my Greek. The LXX translation of Ex. 24:10 reads, "...and that which was under His feet was like a work of sapphire bricks..." Now, we know that the translators of the LXX were not working from a Christian perspective, yet they also translate Ex. 24:10 as a solid, clear substance under His feet. So, it seems impossible to see this verse as a reference to the Kabbal's Tree of Life theory. Rather, it seems to simply refer to a brick or pavement like solid surface under His feet. Either way, if this is the only Scriptural proof one can over from the very complex teachings of the Tree of Life, it seems save to say that the Tree of Life teachings are not derived from Scripture. Shalom Tim, Actually there are hundreds of scriptures that support the tree of life teaching. Another example is the tree of life itself in the garden, most assume that this is just a tree with fruit, but we also find this tree in Prov 3:18 calls wisdom the tree of life. Wisdom is one of the sephirot of the tree of life in Kabbalah. Rev 22:1 says that the tree of life is the river of life that comes out of the throne, another one of the sephirot. Proverbs 11:30 says that the tree of life is righteousness, another one of the sephirot. Shalom Simchat Torah |

Greetings Simchat! Rev. 22:1 doesn't say that the river is the tree of life. Rev. 22:2 says that there are trees of life on either side of the river. Interestingly, why does the Tree of Life theory only include 10 fruit, when Rev. 22:2 says that the Tree of Life has 12 fruit? Regardless, the best you have produced so far are simply verses which mention words which are found in the Tree of LIfe theory. What you have not produced are any Biblical verses which teach that: 1) That we need to asend the tree of life to acheive knowledge of and union with God. 2) That there are in fact 10 immanations from God. In contast to the Kabbalah, where one must work to acheive union with God and knowledge of Him, the New Testament teachs us that Jesus is the full revelation of God to man. Further, that it is only through faith in Him that we can be saved. The Kabbalah seems to me to simply be a Jewish version of Greek gnosticism, which the New Testament refutes time and again.
