"Well, neither has happened,..." Nancy: You write: "Jesus was an apocalyptisist, who, sincerely believing in the scriptures of his time, continued on to warn people of the end of the world, or at the least, the destruction of Jerusalem. Well, neither has happened,..." Thank you, Nancy. You have just fulfilled Bible prophecy. 2 Pet 3:3-4 (New American Standard Bible) Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, "Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation. (Amplified Bible)To begin with, you must know and understand this, that scoffers (mockers) will come in the last days with scoffing, [people who] walk after their own fleshly desires and say, Where is the promise of His coming? For since the forefathers fell asleep, all things have continued exactly as they did from the beginning of creation. |

Hi Nancy, it is a translation from the Koine Greek and Hebrew, and the people that sponsor the forum sell them, I use one and they are great for a better understanding of the original language. CDBJ |

Here's one for you. I listened to this guy for a week at a seminar given by the Biblical Archaeology Society, of which i am a member. "The Orthodox Corruption of Scripture" by Bart Ehrman to order call 1 888 932 7123 He is one of the few expert translators of ancient texts left in this country. "A dying breed," as he referred to himself. I asked him how many languages he can read. He said, "Well, German and French, of course. Then there's Latin, Greek, Hebrew, ancient Syriac, Aramaic..." The list continued, but I don't remember the rest. I also consider Karen Armstrong an expert (as do many). One of her many books, "A History of God" was on the NY Times best seller list for months. It is very scholarly, but extremely enlightening. You might want to pick up a copy if you haven't already read it. I plan on checking out the Amplified Bible a little. But I don't think I will be on the forum anymore. I seem to annoy people with my beliefs. It was a mistake for me to ask the original question. ALL of the scholars I have referred to or read a book by, say "No where in the bible does Jesus say he is God." I just wanted to see if it was possible they were wrong or being too "picky" about wording. But I think they are right. No one in this forum answered the question with anything more than a phrase, word, passage, or verse that is completely possible to interpret in any why one chooses. I lost. I never got a DIRECT answer, despite what all of you well intentioned Christians wrote or quoted. I wonder what Ehrman thinks of the Amplified Bible? Maybe I'll email him..............over and out........nancy |

I wish you the best Nancy and I hope that you find your answers. It is just like I told you though you are asking the wrong persons. Jesus Christ is alive and is able to reveal himself to you if you really want to know what the truth is read the book of John in the New Testament. You sound like a very nice caring person but you need to see the reality of what God has done for you in the person of his Son. The fact is that Christ came into this world to pay a debt he didn't owe because we owed a debt we couldn't pay. 1 John 5:10-13 Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. Acts 20:28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood. The best to you, CDBJ |
