Dear friends, Thank you for your response, however I still find all those verses VERY open to interpretation. Hank, YES, I would argue that "word" does not necessarily mean "Jesus". Perhaps "truth?" Which COULD mean anything. After all, do YOU claim to know the "truth?" John was the last gospel written down and considered the most "mystical." Therefore, anything in it could mean ANYTHING depending on the reader. Also, when Jesus uses the word "Son", is it possible that He meant "son" (lower case S) to indicate that we are ALL sons and daughters of God? All these different versions of the bible testify to various groups who perfer THEIR PERSONAL interpretation. I am just trying to find where everyone says that Jesus SPECIFICALLY said, "I am God."

Hello IneffableUniverse Of course I claim to know the truth. Jesus Christ claimed to be the truth. He promised the Holy Spirit would lead us into all truth. You said: "Also, when Jesus uses the word "Son", is it possible that He meant "son" (lower case S) to indicate that we are ALL sons and daughters of God?" No. Christ used a definite article when calling Himself "the" Son. To indicate we are all "sons" in our present state, the proper grammar would be to use an indefinite article ("a" son). Steve |

Steve, no offense intended, really, but if YOU know the "truth" because you are a devout Christian, what exactly are all the other non-Christian religions teaching THEIR followers? I mean, the guys who collapsed the Twin Towers truly believed THEY knew the truth too! As you know, in some parts of the world, they were looked upon as heros, FOLLOWING THE TEACHINGS OF THE QURAN AND MOHAMMED. They thought what they did was "right." Remember Waco? Koresh thought HE knew the truth and all it did was end in the deaths of many innocents. The early Gnostic Christians thought that KNOWLEDGE would bring them to the "truth." They, however, were erradicated by the founding fathers of the current Christian doctrine. So, how again is it that YOU know the "truth?" If you do, then you must be God too, because nobody I know would dare be so ostentatious as to presume to know what TRUTH is. They are practicing piety and humility, just as Jesus taught.

Hi Steve This a good question, that you have raised. It's something that many Chritian and other religions don't seem get the point. Jesus when on earth, was neutral when it came to wordly governments, but he was a supporter of his Father Kingdom. ( many scriptures on this.)(He said to be as an Alien resident)That's why he said to his followers that even though you are in the world , be no part of it just as I am no part of it. (I use this scripture in a earlier post.)Jesus talked to people about Gods kingdom all the time. He supported himself as a tent maker. He was peaceable not getting involved in any wars, and told his followers to do the same. So true Christians donnot get involved in such things rather they were to spend their time in the ministry talking about Gods Kingdom. 2Cor 10:3 3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 6And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete. Matthew 26 52"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Matt 7:21 21"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' 23Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!' There are many Scriptures on what Jesus followers should be like. jme |
