continued from previous post: Now…….how I personally got sucked into this off the wall cult……it seemed to me that the closer I could get to the original congregation of Y’shua the closer I would be to authenticity……..there’s been a lot lost over the past 2,000 years so it’s not easy….incredibly however, there are a few of us all over the world who have come to the same conclusion…….so we devised this “strange and new” religion. The holiest days on the “strange and new” calendar that we follow are: The seventh day Sabbath of the LORD—looking back to the creation, and forward to the creation of a new heaven and a new earth and celebrating all of the LORD’s goodness in between. Passover--the day of the crucifixion of our Jewish Savior, Y’shua. The Feast of Unleavened Bread--symbolizing the removal of sin afforded through the Jewish blood of Y’shua. The Day of the Elevation of the Firstfruits—The day Y’shua arose from the grave, looking forward to our resurrection.. Shavout or The Feast of Weeks—the day that the Holy Spirit was poured out on the first generation believers of this “new and strange” religion who were in Jerusalem for the Feast. The Day of Trumpets—the final wake up call to repent, looking forward to the last trumpet which will usher in Y’shua’s return. The Day of Atonement—looking forward to the cleansing of the earth by Y’shua and the total annihilation of Satan. The Feast of Tabernacles—looking forward to the day when the tabernacle of the LORD will be with men, and He personally will tabernacle with them. I know those are bizarre and unchristianlike celebrations but after many years of observing those well documented, scripturally substantiated holy days of Sundays, xmas, good friday and easter, I needed a break. Thank you for your concern for my lost condition……. Singing the Song of Moses and the Song of the Lamb (that strange and new religion)….. Bub |

Dear Bubah, Thank you. I now have a bit clearer picture of your religion. Your labor was not in vain. Allow me to encapsulise my understanding of it: Your theology claims that Messiah has come in the Person of Yeshua; Only a segment of Israel recognized His coming; "The way " are the modern counterparts of these 1st century believers; Holy Scripture is composed of the Old Teastament books (Genesis thru Malachi) and John the apostle's Gospel and Revelations and the remaining New Testament books are the writings of mere men (Usefull but fallible). You also believe in salvation by grace thru faith in Yeshua alone. Be patient, if you would, and permit me a few more questions. You wrote "He taught that this community of excellence, He called it a Kingdom, that the LORD originally had in His mind, would be established, with them or without them, and it would last for eternity……He said that everyone who did the will of His Father, i.e. followed the LORD’s teachings instead of doing what was right in their own eyes, was going to be included…….those who opted out would experience an unpleasant future." Your statement that God was calling for the people to repent and to obey sounds very much like what He had been calling them to for 5,000 years! Questions: What difference did Yeshua make? For whom did Christ die? Why was His death necessary? Do we choose God or has He chosen us? Thanks for you help. John |

John I think what Bubba has done was to take the pieces of Judaism and Christianity that he agreed with put them together in a very logical way and got a finished product that sounded good, tasted good, felt good, looked good, smelt good, however it wasn’t the complete and unadulterated word of God. When we take the Word of God and try to form something that appeals to our sense knowledge we quickly reveal what is taking precedent in our life. We have allowed our flesh to rule where our spirit should. John as you know this is common today within Christianity, too many are taking the pieces of God they like or agree with and placing them together to form what they want to worship. While most if not all of what they say is birthed in truth omitting any portion of God to form another is idolatry. Bubba is not worshipping God but rather the statues, precepts, laws, traditions, commands, festivals and customs God set down to give His people direction. While they are all most excellent they are to be in subjection to God not elevated to his level. EdB |

Ed, I'll thank you to cease using your psychic abilities to tell others what it is that I worship. Bub |

Bubba I have no psychic powers I only commented on what you said you believed. If that insulted you I’m sorry, maybe you ought to reread what it is you wrote. If I put words in your mouth I’m sorry but I think I fairly represented what it was you said. For a Christian gentile to try to put himself under Jewish law, tradition or custom is sad. While each and every non Jewish Christian should have a warm spot in their heart for Jews and Jewish tradition to put yourself under Jewish law other than what was decided by the council of Jerusalem is shameful. Jesus died to set us free and we keep trying to bind ourselves, to be it seems to cheapen grace. Brother I have studied Jewish culture, life, religion, law and tradition. I understand how Jesus is a fulfillment of the festivals (by the way you did an excellent job on that). However I do not want or see a need to adhere to anything other than what has already been set down and accepted as orthodox Christianity. If you desire to become more Jewish or adhere to Jewish law and custom fine but be very careful. You may find what your hunting for, but most probably your going to fall into a trap. That trap is the law becomes more important than THE relationship. EdB |

Dear Ed, You said, “I understand how Jesus is a fulfillment of the festivals”. Do you celebrate the festivals with that in mind? Bub |

Dear Bub, It is written: Col 2:16,17 "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." I suggest you revisit Hebrews 4 for further instruction in righteouness. Note: Sarcasem is not an endearing trait. John |

Dear John: You quoted, “Col 2:16,17 "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." What exactly were you trying to convey to me……keeping in mind that the topic at hand was “hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ”. (v8). Thanks………Bub |

Dear Bub, I was replying to your post to Ed in which you implied that he was remiss in not observing festival days. (Dear Ed, You said, “I understand how Jesus is a fulfillment of the festivals”. ..Do you celebrate the festivals with that in mind?) This thread has become unwieldy. I suggest we begin a new one.
