AMPLIFIED 2015 | John 5:19 ¶ So Jesus answered them by saying, "I assure you and most solemnly say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself [of His own accord], unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever things the Father does, the Son [in His turn] also does in the same way. |
Bible Question:
Hi Steve and Fatherof4, When I have studied this passage (Luke 21), it seems that "generation" could also be translated as "race". This would mean that Jesus could have been saying that the Jews would not disappear until all is fulfilled. Does anyone have any information on this? Love in Christ, Mark |
Bible Answer: Greetings Mark! That is certainly one possible meaning of the word! However, 'generation' seems to the fit the context better. One of the problems with the preterist view is that it assumes 'this generation' refers to the generation alive at the moment Jesus is speaking. It is also possible that 'this generation' refers to the generation alive when the signs mentioned in the preceeding verses actually occur. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
