Bible Note: Rom 13:7,8,14 states: "Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature." For a Christian to remain truly politically neutral, she would have to not only abstain from voting, but avoid formulating opinions about which side appears to have the least harmful approach to a problem. Romans 13:7 admonishes us have respect and honor for all duly elected officials, not criticizing or denegrading any. Love others and you will have fulfilled the law of Christ. Prayers concerning government authorities should focus on our desire that these would not hinder Christians' ability to carry out our God's will. (Acts 4:29,30; 1 Tim 2:1) |
