1 | Is this about David or about Jesus? | 2 Sam 22:1 | Val | 231539
On the surface it may appear to be arrogant. However the Lord chose David specifically because of his heart's condition. David wrote most of the Psalms. In reading them we see that he was constantly praising the Lord, being thankful, adoring the Lord. I check the cross references in the margin of my bible when reading a passage. These will shed light on the context of the passage also showing if it is a prophecy about the Lord. There can be a near and far interpretation meaning there may be an immediate meaning.,i.e. Regarding David and a far interpretation meaning a future event, i.e. Regarding our Lord. Hope this helps.
2 | When we die are we asleep in the grave? | 1 Thess 4:13 | Val | 226445
Dear Helenemissina, No we are not asleep in the grave. The Apostle Paul says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Our bodies will be raised at the resurrection and joined with our spirits. Just as Jesus rose bodily so we too will have a heavenly body. A reading of the Apostle Paul's letters sheds light on this topic.
3 | SALVATION | Rev 14:6 | Val | 223312
There is a good website called Preceptaustin.org Kay Arthur gives the futurist view of Revelation on this site. Go to Revelation on this site and look for her lectures. This topic is discussed in Revelation Part 4, Lecture ten. Basically she says that they are Israel's offspring who hold to the testimony of Jesus during the tribulation. I believe that the tribulation begins after the rapture of the church which has not happened yet. So they are neither the modern saved Jews as they will go to heaven at the rapture with the church nor the Old Testament saints who went to heaven after Christ rose from the dead but rather Israel who believe in Jesus at the tribulation who will lose their physical life for their faith. Revelation 14:6. I hope this helps you sir.
4 | What was the purpose of circumcision? | Gen 17:10 | Val | 223307
Gen 17:11 "And you shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin, and it shall be the sign of the covenant between Me and you. The purpose of the covenant is for a "sign". There are many interesting books on covenants. Most times there was a blood covenant. These covenants were practiced in most societies. |

5 | SEARCHING FOR THE TRUTH | Matt 5:17 | Val | 223147
Looking back to when the ten commandments were given, when Israel came out of bondage in Egypt and who they were given to, Israel by Moses we learn much by studing the book of Exodus and Leviticus as well as the Genesis, Numbers and Deuteronomy. We see that God gave the commandments to Israel to show them how they are to relate to God and to one another. Looking at the attributes of God we see that He is holy and we are to be like Him by obeying and trusting Him. Matthew 22:37 The ten commandments show us what kind of people we are to be and how we are to treat one another. The ten commandments also show us that God, the creator of heaven and earth is to be worshiped by all his creation. The ten commandments also serve as a warning that if we do not obey them we will suffer the consequences. Each day you and I are faced with choices to obey or break a commandment. When we chose to obey we normally have peace and a clean conscience. When we disobey we bring turmoil and strife to our lives and the lives of those who are hurt by our disobedience. The ten commandments are a plumb line. We line up our choices next to the plumb line. This helps us make the right, God honoring choices. Hope this helps.
6 | Can people be hristian and stay at home | 1 Cor 10:16 | Val | 223146
My suggestion is that you built a relationship with the person you are speaking of. Living a life before them that honors the Lord and going out of your way to show them that you love them and want the best for them. Have a humble attitude and do not push them. Pray for them and wait for the Holy Spirit to work in their lives. After all the Lord has had patience with us so shouldn't we show the same patience to others. Salvation is by grace alone so the short statement is true. Church membership will add to their growth but is not necessary for salvation. It is an act of obedience so there is something wrong in a person's relationship with the Lord if they do not obey His command to go to church. Hebrews 10:25. However, it is not our job to push them. In fact most times that will make them more determined not to attend. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to bring that person to the Lord.

9 | TRUST ISSUES | 2 Corinthians | Val | 222864
Do a word study on love and trust. The best example of love is the Lord's love for us when He died on the cross for us. The bible says that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. In other words we were untrustworthy and He still loved us enough to die for us.

12 | John the beloved. | John 13:23 | Val | 222820
We are not told why John spoke of himself that way. One can only imagine however. When we think of the price that Christ paid, He gave His own life so that we can be saved we all can say we are the child that Jesus loved. Really seeing clearly the cross and what Christ did for us to cleanse us of our sins is humbling. It is not that Jesus loved John more that the others. Perhaps it is John's way of showing his gratitude for what Christ has done for him. John was in Christ's inner circle so they must have been particurally close. John 13:23. Do a lookup on the word love in the New Testament. This is how I found the verse. You learn so much when you do word studies.
13 | jesus and the woman at the well | John | Val | 222817
Not everything that happens is recorded so we don't know if she did or didn't as the scripture may not say. However the point of the story is that Jesus offered her eternal life. He compared Himself to water and went on to say whoever drinks of this water will live forever. It is a beautiful story to show that salvation is available to even the lowest of sinners if they will only believe. John 4:13-15. This was His work on earth.
14 | IS IT POSSIBLE TO ATTAIN THE RIGHTOUSNES | Rom 5:1 | Val | 222815
Its all about the blood of Jesus that He shed for us on the cross. As has been stated, faith in the Lord Jesus is what counts. He paid the penalty for our sins once and for all. He came to earth from heaven. John 3:16. He died on the cross. He was in the grave three days. God raised Him from the dead which shows that the sacrifice was accepted. The whole bible is about the Lord Jesus and how he makes our relationship to God possible through His blood. It is not our righteousness but His. When God looks at us who have placed our faith and trust in Him, He sees the sacrifice of Jesus. We are to walk in obedience to Christ by obeying His commandments in the bible and his precepts. By doing this we are walking worthy of our calling. Hope this helps.

16 | removal of Holy Spirit | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 221962
The great tribulation is a time of testing for the nation of Israel. God's Holy Spirit indwells believers. The church will be raptured and the believers are taken home. It is their influence that will be gone during the great tribulation. However, as people (Israel) turn to the Lord in repentance they are sealed with the Holy Spirit. See Revelation 7:4. There are signs and wonders that occur that point them to God. The events of nature point to God. It is through these things that people seek God. One example may be the events after 9/11. People everywhere were looking to God. You saw people going to church in large numbers. You saw advertising signs quoting bible verses. This is an example of how when we cannot help ourselves and are helpless we turn to the only one who can help us - the Lord and Creator of our souls. There is an excellent study on biblical prophecy by Precept Ministries International you may check out.

20 | help with a non believer, to understand | Rom 10:17 | Val | 221449
The first and second passage is describing a seige. In other words it is a time of war. The last passage is regarding Moab. If you read the first five books of the bible you will find what is expected of Israel. The Lord gives them commandments on how to live. When those commandments are broken there are consequences. You may tell your friend that there are consequences for all people including himself if he does not obey the Lord's commandments given in the bible. You may warn him that those who do not believe and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross will suffer the consequences of being eternally seperated from Christ in a place prepared for the devil and his angels. Using the gospels you may tell him that God made a way for man to be reconciled to Himself through the death, burial and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. All those who put their faith and trust in Him have eternal life. Christ came to rescue us from our sins. The consequences of ignoring Christ are eternal seperation. Bringing your friend back to the cross is the only way to help them. Keep the focus on the cross.
