121 | Leviticus16:8,10,20-22 | Leviticus | Val | 211014
Dear a1busdriver, In my studies I came across this topic. I would like to share it with you. The emphasizes is on the work of Christ. Specifically how He deals with the sins of those who are sanctified. Not only does He purify us and make us clean He remembers our sins no more. Tradition tells us that lots were cast between the two goats. One was sacrificed and the other was taken into the wilderness. As best I can explain it it is symbolism of Christ and how He dealt with sin when He offered Himself the one sacrifice for all. (Hebrews) Not only did He purify us of our sins but He remembers our sins no more. So the second goat was taken by a man so far and then another man and then another far, far into the wilderness until he reached a cliff upon which he would push the goat off the cliff. The symbolism of this is that Christ remembers our sins no more and as Corrie Ten Boon says He put up a no fishing sign. Further explaination: Man's responsibility is faith in Christ. This is the point we are saved once and forever. We commit daily sins and therefore need daily forgiveness. (I John) These sins are unintentional sins not defiant sins. Hope this helps. Blessings Val |

122 | Who, besides Moses, chose the leaders? | Deut 1:9 | Val | 210772
Deut 1:13 'Choose wise and discerning and experienced men from your tribes, and I will appoint them as your heads.' Verse one says Moses spoke to the children of Israel. Verse 13 says he asked them to chose the men they wanted to represent them. So the people chose their own leaders. |

123 | The Blind leading the blind | Mark 8:18 | Val | 210771
Because Jesus was no ordinary man. He was and is God. He could see people's minds and hearts and know what their true motive and spirit was. He saw the corruptness of the individual Pharisees He encountered therefore He spoke from this knowledge. The Pharisees and Sadducees were wrong about just about everything. They were of their father, the devil. This is a warning to us in that we are not to put man on a pedestal and deify him. We are to serve God and God alone.
124 | Similar Barak in Judges - Barack Obama. | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 210770
Yes you are reading too much into this. There is a term in bible study called typology. Unless the bible says someone is a type we cannot say definatively someone is a type. The bible is very clear and in depth study keeps one grounded. There are many many names in the bible but having the same name as a biblical character is just that and thats all. I would encourage you to get in a good in depth study of the word.
125 | Is the rapture upon us. | Matt 24:36 | Val | 210274
I would say through my study of the scriptures and what I understand, the rapture could happen at any time and it is the next event on God's prophetic calendar. The world stage is being prepared for His coming. There is a Revelation Precept Upon Precept Study at Precept.org. There are many commentaries you could look at at your local Christian book store. Preceptaustin.org gives an overview of the authors and interpretive styles. There is an author named Joel Rosenberg who has written some books about the global economy and how it relates to the end times. He has a website. He has been a speaker at Precept Ministries. He has been on James Dobson’s radio program as well as Hannity and Colmes and others. We are told to believe in Christ Jesus and what He did for us on the cross and His resurrection from the dead. We are told to serve Him. This is the best preparation you can make. Therefore whether we pass before the rapture or when the Lord appears in the heavens we will be ready to meet our Creator. Blessings – Val Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. |

127 | is marijuana against the bible | Rom 12:1 | Val | 210201
It is against the law. The bible tells us to obey the authorities He has placed over us so yes it is against the bible. You could be arrested and charged with an offense. You could lose your vehicle, your home, your reputation. There are some jobs you would not be able to pursue such as teaching, law enforcement even if not convicted. It is a mind-altering drug. We are told to be controlled by the Holy Spirit so again it is against the bible. Confess this sin to the Lord and He will help you overcome this temptation. Blessings - Val Phil 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. |

128 | betrayed by a friend | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 210199
First you must confess your anger as sin to the Lord and ask for forgiveness. After a cooling off period when you feel you have your anger in control with the Lord's help call the person and tell them how much they hurt you. Express your forgiveness for what they did to you in whatever words you chose such as you don't hold it against them or whatever you feel appropriate. You could also tell them that you are holding them accountable and expect the funds to be repaid as that would be the right thing to do. During this time they may tell you why they did what they did and give you a better understanding of what they were thinking. You will feel better and have peace knowing you did what the Lord commands by forgiving this person and having this talk makes peace with them. Commit them into the Lord's hands to deal with their sin. You can then move on with your life and have a clean conscience knowing you did what you were suppose to do. Pray a lot about it and give yourself a little time for the hurt to mellow before you call them so you can control yourself. Blessings - Val Matt 6:12 'And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. Matt 6:14 "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. |

I recommend starting in Genesis and working my way through to Revelation. Each chapter builds upon another. An excellent in depth bible study is called Precept Bible Studies. They have their own website. Kay and Jack Arthur along with their staff have written these studes in the past 30 plus years they have been in the ministry. They also have classes across the U.S and abroad. You may check to see if there is a class near you. These classes suggest five hours a week homework. The class meets once a week. The first hour is devoted to class discussion of the homework. The second hour is a video presenting the material. The fellowship that you will have with other belivers is precious. The discussion helps you to understand and remember the truths of scripture. The NASB inductive study bible may be purchased at this site. Also Preceptaustin is a good site for excellent online free resources. Blessings, Val 2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. |

130 | was the ten commandments done away with | Matt 22:40 | Val | 210041
Dear Saracharies, Welcome to the forum. Christ Jesus came to fulfil the Law and that spoken by the Prophets. As you remember Israel is God's chosen people. The law was given to them when they came out of Egypt. It was to show them how to treat one another. Israel also had the tabernacle, the place of worship where they would meet with God. Priests were appointed to represent the people. They offered animal sacrifices continually. These sacrifices reminded them of their sin. In Hebrews which I have been studing I see that Jesus came as the perfect High Priest. He brought about a new covenant and the old covenant, the priests offering the animal sacrifices was no longer needed. Jesus is a priest forever in heaven. We can go directly to Him in prayer. No longer does Israel have to go through an earthly priest. A study of these two covenants will help you better understand this topic. The moral law was not done away with. Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments. The ten commandments show us how to treat one another. Murder, lying, stealing, etc. are all bad things. We wouldn't want these things done to us. So why I ask would you think Christ would want to allow these things? Even unbelievers would do themselves a favor if they kept the ten commandments. Jesus is holy, righteous, good. We are called to be like Him. We are called to follow Him. A study of the Sabbath day can be obtained by using the search features to the right of the screen. I recommend for your reading Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy and Hebrews. Blessings, Val Matt 5:17 "Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. Blessings, Val |

Cheri, study the book of Hebrews all the way through. Make a list of the priests and their duties then make a list of Christ as priest and His duties. This will open up to you the meaning of these two priesthoods. Enjoy! Val

134 | God Punished New Orleans with Katrina | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 209301
Yes I think so. I will tell you my reason why. I have studied the old testament in depth; not all of it but many books. Looking at the relationship that the Lord had with Israel I saw that they were blessed when they obeyed the Lord and they were cursed when they did not. Also looking at the pagan nations, I saw that the Lord punished them for their wickedness. Before the punishment the Lord always sent warnings. Plenty of them. There came a time though when the warnings stopped and the punishment came. Always the innocent suffered along with the wicked. The Lord has always had a remnant. He cared for them through the judgment. I do not have to fear because the Lord has promised that He will never leave me nor forsake me. In all circumstances I am to trust and obey Him. Bible passages: Genesis,Exodus,Leviticus,Numbers, Deuteronomy, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, the minor prophets and the major prophets. Blessings, Val |

135 | convincing people Bible true word of God | Matt 1:1 | Val | 209228
Prayer and love. Keep reading the bible and studying it daily and pray for them. Ask God to open up an opportunity for you to witness to them one on one. At that time if you have been in the word and prayer you will know how to answer them by the power of the Holy Spirit. Don't fret over their not believing the bible. If you do you will lose focus as Peter lost focus when he looked at the water rather than keeping his eys on the Lord. Blessings - Val
136 | Jesus and the ruling Powers | Bible general Archive 4 | Val | 209155
You might want to contrast the character of Jesus who was sinless with the character of the ruling powers - the Sadducees and the Pharisees. You can do this by reading the gospels and marking each in a different color. Then writing out the specific characteristics of each. The nature of the Kingdom of God sounds like the contrast of the Sadducees and Pharisees wanted to keep their earthly "kingdom", power, etc. where Christ Jesus had a heavenly kingdom. You could contrast the earthly kingdom which was power, status, control, etc. with the heavenly kingdom which was holy, righteous, etc. Hope this helps - Val

138 | why God reprents for making saul as king | 2 Sam 1:1 | Val | 209071
In the book of 2 Samuel the account is given of the relationship of Saul and the Lord as well as Saul and the Lord's prophet Samuel. The Lord gave Saul instructions through His prophet Samuel. Saul did not wait on Samuel but went ahead and offered sacrifices. The Lord gave Saul another chance and gave him instructions concerning the evil King Agag. Saul did not obey the Lord. This time the Lord torn the kingdom from Saul. All of this was revealed to Saul through the prophet Samuel. Samuel loved Saul and mourned this fact. The Lord had to prompt Samuel to move ahead. The message for us may be that we must keep moving forward. Things do not always turn out the way we want them and people may disappoint us by their disobedience to the Lord. It is our personal responsibility to obey the Lord.
139 | References that deal with "a sane mind"? | 2 Tim 1:7 | Val | 209010
2 Tim 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. This verse is good for one who has fears. There are chemical imbalances that people may have who would need to go to get help in the medical community. Of course go to the Lord in prayer first. |

The answer is found at verse 30. Luke 17:30 "It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed. We know from other passages that when a believer is taken they go to be with the Lord. |
