AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 10:16 Is the cup of blessing which we bless [at the Lord's Supper] not a sharing in the blood of Christ? [Indeed it is.] Is the bread which we break not a sharing in the body of Christ? [Indeed it is.] |
Bible Question: Many people say, 'I am a good person, I don't need to go to church, I can still be a (good) Christian by staying at home'. How can I substantiate to that type of person that they should go to church? |
Bible Answer: My suggestion is that you built a relationship with the person you are speaking of. Living a life before them that honors the Lord and going out of your way to show them that you love them and want the best for them. Have a humble attitude and do not push them. Pray for them and wait for the Holy Spirit to work in their lives. After all the Lord has had patience with us so shouldn't we show the same patience to others. Salvation is by grace alone so the short statement is true. Church membership will add to their growth but is not necessary for salvation. It is an act of obedience so there is something wrong in a person's relationship with the Lord if they do not obey His command to go to church. Hebrews 10:25. However, it is not our job to push them. In fact most times that will make them more determined not to attend. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to bring that person to the Lord. |
