Bible Question: I've been taught that 2 Thes. 2:7 is talking about the removal of the Holy Spirit before the great tribullation, How is that possible knowing that Rev.7:14 states there is a great multitude saved which came out of the great tribulation? Wouldn't the Holy Spirit have to be present for that to happen? |
Bible Answer: The great tribulation is a time of testing for the nation of Israel. God's Holy Spirit indwells believers. The church will be raptured and the believers are taken home. It is their influence that will be gone during the great tribulation. However, as people (Israel) turn to the Lord in repentance they are sealed with the Holy Spirit. See Revelation 7:4. There are signs and wonders that occur that point them to God. The events of nature point to God. It is through these things that people seek God. One example may be the events after 9/11. People everywhere were looking to God. You saw people going to church in large numbers. You saw advertising signs quoting bible verses. This is an example of how when we cannot help ourselves and are helpless we turn to the only one who can help us - the Lord and Creator of our souls.
