NASB | 1 Thessalonians 4:13 ¶ But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Thessalonians 4:13 ¶ Now we do not want you to be uninformed, believers, about those who are asleep [in death], so that you will not grieve [for them] as the others do who have no hope [beyond this present life]. |
Bible Question: When we die are we asleep in the grave until the resurrection and final judgement? |
Bible Answer: Dear Helenemissina, No we are not asleep in the grave. The Apostle Paul says that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Our bodies will be raised at the resurrection and joined with our spirits. Just as Jesus rose bodily so we too will have a heavenly body. A reading of the Apostle Paul's letters sheds light on this topic. |
