1 | Are His commandments grievous? 1Jn 5:3 | 1 Cor 7:15 | tuli | 38875
I think we have a very carnal understanding on marriage!! It is definitely more than just two people in love. It is an expression of things heavenly, I mean for the believer! With an appreciation of which, we should not have any of these rather self centered opinions, that challenge the mercy of God to usward. 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. JAH BLESS. |

I agree with you that most people do not understand that a marriage is a covenant, not just between the two people, but between the two and G*d. Too many people enter marriage with the idea that if it doesn't work out they can just get a divorce. If people understood that marriage is a covenant, and understood what that meant, they would either not get married in the first place, or make shure that the person they are getting married to is the right one. I agree with you that keeping his commandments are not grievous, quite the contrary, following his commands brings life, not death as many teach. Many people love to quote Matt.5:17, teaching that Jesus has fulfilled the Torah, and by some twisted logic since Jesus fulfilled the "Law"(Torah), this somehow negates it. If these people would continue and read 19, "So whoever disobeys the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven". Notice this is not a salvation issue, because it states that those who teach against following G*ds Torah(Law) are no longer members of the Kingdom of Heaven, they are just called least in the Kingdom. Observing the "Law" out of legalism is for not, but following it out of love has to do with trusting. Romans 3:30-31 says Therefore, he will consider righteous the circumcised on the ground of trusting and the uncircumcised through that same trusting. Does it follow that we obolish Torah by this trusting? Heaven forbid !On the contrary, we confirm Torah.
