Bible Question:
So are you saying that she should have stayed with her abusive husband and took her punishment? Do you really think Jesus would have told her to shut up and take the abuse because you married him? |
Bible Answer: "So are you saying that she should have stayed with her abusive husband and took her punishment? Do you really think Jesus would have told her to shut up and take the abuse because you married him?" Let's get our emotions out of the way and look at God's own words....Jesus did voice the will of God in His ministry here and through the Apostles. God's Word does give specific instructions for dealing with our enemies and those that despitefully use us... Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; But He also give specific promises of protection for those that turn to Him for their defense. Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. He gives specific promises that He hears and answers us when we ask in faith and according to His will. 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: He also promises to speak to us and give us His wisdom and guidance. James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He warns us not to rely on the wisdom of men 1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. Our God through Jesus Christ has provided His best. When we choose to disobey, we miss His best. What would be His best in this type of situation? Delivering the abusive husband and bringing him to repentance, making both witnesses of His love and grace, or else moving him out of her life while she remain faithful to God's word by faith! Our God is a miracle working God, but we far too often look for our own solutions! God bless |
