Bible Question: i would like to know if someone had to of had an affair in there previous marriage and then got divorced, although the x husband didnt ever know about it,and then that persone re married another man after a while is this ok, or are they commiting adultary every morning they wake up. |
Bible Answer: to understand what this verse is addressing, you need to read it in context of the chapter as a whole. The contextual conclusion is that one is free to serve the Lord w/o distraction (v.35). Many use this to show allowance for divorce or re-marrage, in fact this is not what Paul taking about else he would not have stated (v.39) the committiment of marrage, "till death do we part". In rom 7:1-3 Paul again uses marrage as an illistration and indirectly re-enforces the standard, though marrage is not the empuesis here. But as for adultary it is sin reguardless of who knows about it or not. 1Jn 2:1 clearly states we are not to sin, yet gives us a provision in Christ when we do. In 1Jn 1:9 God will forgive if we confess our sin - now is the time to make things right. |
