Bible Question: if a persone had commited adultary and there is a divorce but not because of the adultary, the adultary had ended a few years earlyer they got divorced for other reasons , is the guilty persone who commited the adultary, although remember thats not why they got divorced because the husband of that perticular marriage never knew about the affair. they got divorced on other grounds but adultary had been commited never the less, is the guilty persone who commitid the adultary allowed to marry again?, this persone has since give there life to the Lord Jesus(past 3years saved) and is now infact re-married with a christian man who loves the Lord and has a wonderful relationship with his Father in heaven and they both are leaders in the church which they attend, and yes i am that lucky man to have a wife with a heart of gold and who loves me so dearly she has with the fear of God vowed never to make that mistake again ever in her life. now if i, a mere man believe her, because it is her past, wont God do the same and bless our marraige for ever?. |
Bible Answer: Touchy subject! Technically the bible says any man who marries a woman who has been divorced commits adultery Matt 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. In RED letters no less! I KNOW THAT IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO HEAR! I did the same, married a woman that was married before, we are both born again and leaders in our Church. Those who preach LAW and works based theology; say that we are living in adultery and are going to hell. I actually had one of these professing Christians ask me if I was still with that woman! I said YES, and he said I was living in adultery, and I was going to go to Hell unless I got divorced from her. He said that my wife would have to return to her former husband, and I guess that means I was just left out in the cold, and was in a catch 22 an could never be married again. This caused much distress in our life for a short time; let me share how I came to have peace about this dilemma. #1. God is love, is there any love in me divorcing my kids mother? Does God want to destroy this family? NO, that would be Satan’s job. #2. When Jesus met the woman at the well: Matt 5: 16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. 19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. She had 5 husbands, which one did Jesus tell her to return to? He did not tell her to return to any of them. She was not condemned, no basis for the divorces, no condemnation and I believe it is clear she became a believer and we shall see her in heaven. I imagine the guy I was speaking to earlier would say she should return to the first one she married. 1 Cor 7:27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art THOU LOOSED FROM A WIFE? seek not a wife. 28 BUT IF THOU MARRY, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you. Paul says here you shoud not seek a wife, but if you marry after being loosed, thou has not sined, BUT….. SUCH SHALL HAVE TROUBLE IN THE FLESH. I AM NOT SURE IF Paul is saying anyone who marries will have trouble in the flesh, but I know divorce causes trouble in the flesh, step kids, step parents, finances, X spouses and other problems galore, etc….. BY NO MEANS AM I SAYING TO ANYONE READING THIS “GO AHEAD AND GET A DIVORCE” I AM JUST QUOTING THE WORD TO COMFORT THIS BROTHER. IT CLEARLY IS BEST NOT TO GET A DIVORCE, BUT MANY PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY ALREADY HAVE AND MANY HAVE REMARRIED, AND I DO NOT BELIEVE GOD IS SENDING US TO HELL, THE SPIRIT OF GOD BEARS TESTOMONY THAT I AN A SON OF GOD AND I HAVE THE FRUITS AND GIFTS TO PROVE IT. I am at peace with it; I am called by God to minister the word of God through writing and speaking. My wife is a faithful child of God with great faith who I admire and love. We will meet you in heaven my brother! Love, Tim |
