1 | Can a divorced person remarry? | 1 Cor 7:15 | kalos | 13080
I certainly do not think that you or any woman should stay with a husband who abuses you. I should have stated my comment more accurately. What I meant, but inadvertently failed to say, was that in general the ideal would be not to divorce, although there are always exceptions to every generalization. I have never felt that there is no justification for divorce. Sorry for the confusion. --JVH0212 |

Where in scripture can you justify your action?
3 | Can a divorced person remarry? | 1 Cor 7:15 | shellyhlms | 38914
I know you aren't talking about the abused wife leaving. If you are, you have a severe problem. Why would you suggest someone who is abused to stay with the husband? If that person you advised DID stay, and was killed by her husband, I'm sure you would carry some guilt for your religious LAWS!
4 | Can a divorced person remarry? | 1 Cor 7:15 | tuli | 38926
Is God able to protect you? Where is your faith? These are not religious laws! This is the word of God! Please stick to the book! Sara allowed herself to lie jeorpadizing her only purity and even life, yet GOD, yes the same God that never changes warned the King not to touch her! Don't you in light of scripture think that a woman that trusts God as Sara did, will be forsaken by God and have to do what God hates? Is anything too hard for God? |

5 | Can a divorced person remarry? | 1 Cor 7:15 | shellyhlms | 38937
I know you didn't just say, "Isn't God there to protect you." WHOA you really contort things! OK..I should stay...Let's add to my scars. I've been thrown through a glass table, and about paralyzed, I've been thrown through a wall, I have been beaten with an oak rod, ribs broken, so....WHAT IS YOUR POINT? YES God is my protector, but YES God gives us wisdom. Staying would be like a deer standing in headlights knowing they are getting ready to get smashed, but not using the wisdom God gave them to MOVE! I want to see YOU stand in front of a loaded gun, with a cold hearted murderer on the other side, knowing he is getting ready to shoot you. LET"S SEE HOW BRAVE YOU ARE THEN! My husband pulled a gun on me and pulled 2 (no not just one) butcher knives on me at the same time, and YOU TELL ME TO SIT THERE and just "trust God to protect me" Well, God gave me wisdom! and by the way...he was a RHEMA Bible college graduate beginning his PREACHING CAREER! You should be really careful when you give advice on things that you have NO IDEA ABOUT!!! |

At the risk of becoming a deer in the headlights myself, I am going to ask a couple of questions by way of suggestion. First of all, is there a friend or family member with whom you can safely stay? Secondly, and more to the point biblically, since you say that he is beginning a preaching career, I am assuming that you are members of a local church. What system of church discipline is in place in your congregation? Have you brought this situation before the elders in your church so that your husband can be confronted with his sin? I am not saying that wise counsel cannot be found here, but one of the roles of the church is to rebuke and correct sinners such as your husband. If this behavior is a complete secret from anyone else in your congregation (especially the shepherds of the flock), perhaps it shouldn't be. You do have to think of your own safety first and foremost, but your husband's problem is a spiritual one, and whatever legal action you take, Scriptural action should be taken if possible. And that means confrontation from brothers in Christ. You will be in my prayers. --Joe! |

Joe This is Word of Faith plus being trained at Rhema the pastor is the sole controlling force of the church. Taking this to the church would probably have the church convince the poor woman didn't have enough faith or unconfessed sin in her life. EdB |

Which is why another church should be sought! Kenneth Hagin doesn't escape my notice, but thanks for the post! --Joe! |

Joe What is amazing to me is people that buy into this junk then when their lives get turned upside down and the junk won't fit say God is wrong. I truly believe Word of Faith to be the most destructive opponent to Christianity today. Why? It sets people up for a fall and when that fall happens most walk completely away from God or so confused they sincerely do not know what to believe. EdB EdB |
