1 | Generation or Race? | John 5:19 | Fatherof4 | 127901 | ||
Tim, Wouldn't Jesus have said "that generation" if he meant some generation in the future? The preterist interpretation is the only one consistent with Matthew 16 when Jesus speaks of "some standing here" not tasting death before the coming of the Kingdom. |

Greetings Fatherof4! I too am a father of four! :-) I would say that if Jesus were simply speaking of a future generation in general, He might simply say 'that' generation. However, in Mt. 24, the context includes a very specific discussion of events and signs. In this case, the generation alive at the time of the signs can be described as 'this' generation - even if it is still in the future. As far as Mt. 16 is concerned, I'm not a preterist, but my interpretation is consistent. I see the 'kingdom coming' as occuring at the death and resurrection of Christ. Some of those standing there did in fact see it. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
