You say "they (Muslims) kill people who don't convert" and they "are taking over the world." Isn't that how Christendom gained its prominence? It appears what goes around, comes around. The Christian, however, is no part of the world because he has been sanctified by the truth and for the truth. He cannot be a hypocrite and expect to have God's spirit. The whole world lies in the power of Satan, but no one really understands what that means. In fact, they wouldn't change much about their particular nation. They say: My government is God's instrument, and everything that my rulers do is His will. So on and on it goes, members of the same religion, praying to the same god for victory as they slaughter fellow believers that cloak themselves in a different uniform than the one they wear. They pray "Our Father." Yes, His children killing one another. If the tears of the victims of divorce covered His altars with tears, how much moreso must all the the tears of those that have lost loved ones to man's warfare! (Mal 2:13,14) Hail the Prince of Peace! |

alienresident You said, "You say "they (Muslims) kill people who don't convert" and they "are taking over the world." Isn't that how Christendom gained its prominence?" Now that is about the most absurd thing you have said!!! Christianity rose to prominence because it is the TRUTH of God! It was how Christians lived that caused the people to listen to that truth. I wrote "Christendom," and I don't use this term interchangeably with "Christianity" as you have done. | ||||||

And your point is??? I know we are all mislead we have be adhereing to this falsehood called Christendom for 2000 years. Jesus was totally wrong when he said His church would prevail and all is really lost except for a select few that haven't fallen for the lie and know the real truth. Am I close? EdB |

You appear to be having trouble seeing the forest for the trees. You, in affect, say: If that's what the truth looks like, I'll cling to what I believe. Let's both stop the debate on what might be mere opinions and start referencing God's written counsel. I cannot find any Christian Scripture that would lead me to vote, much less go to war for a national interest. I'll provide verses that lead me in the opposite direction, if you'll supply defense for your, more popular, position. |

Greetings Alienresident! Since democracy is a relatively new thing, I am not surprised that the Bible doesn't specifically mention voting! ;-) Scripture clearly doesnt' say, 'Thou shalt vote'! However, it also doesn't say, 'Thou shall not vote' either! :) So, apparently, this whole topic is a matter of opinion only. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, you wouldn't want others to use that sort of reasoning. Just because the Bible does not address a particular matter specifically, we have principles to guide us. Let's take using marijuana, for example. Scripture does not clearly say, 'Thou shalt not use marijuana.' But it does say to obey the authorities (assuming the request does not violate a command from God). It also says "Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God." Physicians have proven the 'contaminating' effects of marijuana, thus we know how to distinguish the wrong in this case. Whatever each of us decides as regards voting, smoking or any other decision in life, there is a right course and God will examine us as to how we did. Thus "opinions" matter. |

http://www.christiananswers.net/q-eden/voting.html Do Christians Have an Obligation to Vote? I once heard of a church where members thought it was against God’s will to vote. Concerned that a corrupt politician would win a local election, church members gathered for an all-night prayer vigil. In the morning, however, they refused to vote and the good candidate lost--by fewer than the number of votes represented by those at the prayer meeting. It seems tragic, but maybe those church members did the right thing. After all, isn't politics a dirty business? Christians are citizens of heaven, not of earth...right? Every Christian must grapple with this question and come up with a defensible answer. THE HIGH COST OF INDIFFERENCE I teach political communication at a Christian college. Once several years ago students in my class complained endlessly about seedy politicians. Yet the day after the election, I discovered that only two of them had voted, and most weren't even REGISTERED to vote! I told them, "For the rest of the semester, if you didn't vote, you have lost your right to complain in this class." Years later they still remember the lesson. |

Rom 13:7,8,14 states: "Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature." For a Christian to remain truly politically neutral, she would have to not only abstain from voting, but avoid formulating opinions about which side appears to have the least harmful approach to a problem. Romans 13:7 admonishes us have respect and honor for all duly elected officials, not criticizing or denegrading any. Love others and you will have fulfilled the law of Christ. Prayers concerning government authorities should focus on our desire that these would not hinder Christians' ability to carry out our God's will. (Acts 4:29,30; 1 Tim 2:1) |
