Subject: Is sin inherited from father and mother? |
Bible Note: Dear Disciplerami, Absent the Scriptural evidence, I could'nt care less what Lindsey or anyone else had to say about spiritual things. As to your charge; "This doctrine is so off the wall, so ridiculous, that it hardly deserves a response.", seems itself to be ridiculous, as it has not been shown by you (or anyone else over centuries) to be anything but orthodox. You wrote citing Rom 5:12: "Death did not spread to all men by virtue of passed down sin through the father, but death spread to all men because all men do what Adam did: they disobey God." Are you not proving the nature of man's inherent sinfulness by your use of this verse? Why has no man born of Adam proved sinless, if it is not his nature to sin? The 18th chapter of Ezekial is not about original sin (which was Adam's eating of the "forbidden friuit") but deals with whether or not a son is guilty of his own fathers sin. Ezek 18:2,3 "What do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, 'The fathers eat the sour grapes, But the children's teeth are set on edge'? "As I live," declares the Lord GOD, "you are surely not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore." JOB 14:4 Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one. 15:14 What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? 1CO 15: 22 For as IN ADAM all die, even so IN CHRIST shall all be made alive. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. What does "in Adam" mean? What does it mean to bear the image of the earthy? 1 Cor 15:22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. John Reformed |
