Bible Question (short): Gap and Pre-Adamic Man theories |
Question (full): I am fairly new to this site and am slowly finding my way around. This subject interests me because a new class I am in at church is teaching the "gap theory" with the "pre-adamic man" theory. I wanted to see what I could find here to help me in my study. I have read much of the discussions on Gen 1:1. I found DocSpock to be particularily helpful and informative and very much appreciated the way he avoided inserting his own belief. I will now throw out a few thoughts to see what you other brothers and sisters think. What if the space of time was after the creation? Do we really know how long Adam and Eve lived here in their perfect fellowship with God before they fell? Would it be likely that Eve took the advise of a serpent if she had not been conversing with it previously? And mustn't she have been accustomed to talking to creatures or she would have been alarmed? And would she really have known the full extent of her curse or punishment in having pain in childbearing if she had not previously had children with no suffering? Adam would I suppose always remember how easy it had been to dress and keep the earth prior to thorns and such. I just have a hard time believing anyone can go from that kind of relationship with God to high treason in a short time. Again just a thought but I would like comments. Thank you and God Bless you all. |
